So this kid is Boxing for the British Title a big one for Him. Management decide to bring a top American over to give a hand in the Corner. Were told we have 30 mins to prepare, the American asks shall I grease Him. I say sure and with that He takes Him in a cubicle to do it. 5 mins later theres an almighty scream, I rush in and ask whats up. I cant see im blind and it stings like **** He says. I take the guy to one side and ask what He had put in the grease, His reply Newskin :rofl.

You can tell from how I worded it I'm still not happy a few years down the line. My opponent was a very strong lad, sam peter type guy, but aweful technically. i had fragile confidence after my previous match, and following my coach's comment, I came out throwing lots of punches but subconciously couldn't force myself to get in range for the first three rounds, and I'm the kind of guy who likes to get in close. during the break before the final round, it finally struck me how **** he was, and that i was throwing away a must win bout. Charged out in the last round and hammered him, but got on the wrong end of the majority. wasn't even tired when the final bell went and saw how easy the win should have been. felt absolutly terrible for a long time after...

Well i guess that's probably the right way to think about it, if you come into a fight, lose and learn something is probably better than winning a boring easy fight with no long term benefits to it

    Yeah.

If only Tyson and Tua had thought of not getting hit by Lewis' jab and hitting him with their own punches.... they could have won. :think

Except that letting your hands go is legitimate advice, if you get gun shy you will be hit with every punch thrown at you. Good advice for Tyson would have been make him miss and make him pay, he was barely moving his head. Having said that I don't think there was anything that could have saved Eddy Chambers, he was severely outclassed.

Water weight is easy to shift so it doesn't actually put porper weight on. Drinking excessively during sparring sessions can be bad but unless you are trying to sweat out weight for a fight you need to drink.

The clue is, the body is 60% water. keeping the balance as it should be makes it work more efficient, as to lose more calories. There are no calories in water.

My old coach only let us drink if you brought it in a bottle, he did not want any trips to the tap during training. I never bring water to the gym though, I show up properly hydrated and rehydrate afterwards.

It depends how long you train for though, my Monday session in the gym is 1hr45mins of hard work, as well as sparring, I couldn't perfrom to my best for that length of time with no water.

There's absolutely no reason to not drink during training if you're thirsty. That is just ******ed. Unless you're drying out for a fight in the next couple days, that is stupid for any coach to do.

  14. I was getting slogged within 2 modest rounds of sparring but was in good shape. Trainer said to do the workouts with the mouth guard in.
