    I could do this! :good

It's a good scrap. Bobick eats some huge shots from Wepner without flinching, not a devastating puncher but a decent one.

I honestly think him having a garbage chin is bull****, a myth propagated by... What, a knockout loss to a arguably top 15 all time heavyweight in Ken Norton?

    Boy, how embarrassing. :-(

Bobick went 38-0, turning pro quite a bit older then most heavyweights. But instead of being given the Tzysu leeway he is seen as a absolute **** fighter.

How does a **** fighter defeat maybe the greatest amateur heavyweight of all time?

Also, the two losses anywhere near Bobick's prime where to two big punchers.

Norton could bang, he doubled over Ali with a BODYSHOT.

And Kallie Knoetze is probably a top 15 all time heavyweight puncher, whatever else he did or didn't lack.

Haven't seen it in ages, and sorry I can't say I vividly remember it, unlike some other matches of both. Since you've just actually viewed Duane in a winning effort that went longer than three rounds, what are your own impressions?

Didn't have his feathers ruffled by being rabbit punched dozens of times by the dirty fighting Wepner. Kept his cool.

Really did take a few rounds to get going, at which point he doubled his punch output if not more. I don't know if Duane needed to take a few shots before having the confidence to trade shots? Maybe he knew the vulnerabilities of his own chin, he certainly kept those hands up in as tight a guard as he could muster.

Bobick looked real bad in that Young Sanford fight just prior to the Norton match.
He had a lot of fights in his backyard but had really not stepped up the competition level to the B rated guys. Futch was working with him and that factor alone made people take notice of the guy. But Duane had those bad amateur ko losses to Lyle and Stevenson and questions remained about him fighting the hitters.

Sooner or later though all guys have to step up and the Norton fight was the big stage for Duane. Much much bigger arena and a big televised event with pressure and not a bout in a small town in front of 1000 people.

Bobick was steamrolled badly in that Knoetze fight as well. He used that style of his and tried to outmuscle the former rugby player and he was not competitve in there. Bad ko ending to that one as well and I don't know why Futch took the bout & had Bobick in there as a road warrior to boot. That was the end of the Futch association and the next trainer didn't help much either against Tate. Why fight that guy at that time?

Tate was a real good looking big prospect at the time and a much bigger guy that threw a ton of combos. I thought Bobick should've been in there with a Ward or Zanon or even a washed up Lyle if they were looking for a name.

A match I wanted to see around 77 was Duane in there against Dino Dennis. It would have been a nice fight for the fans and an inside brawl that could've been fought in a phone booth. Or the Leon Spinks fight that went to Ledoux instead.

Back when they were active I thought that Coetzee would have killed Bobick...and not tha Duane was a bad fighter or anything, but that bionic right of Gerrie's was so deadly.

haha, it was a pretty good fight too. I just watched it. Wepner is so dirty. He doesn't impress me at all.
I'm going to be uploading two bobick fights today on youtube if anyone wants to tune in :bbb

This really isnt close to an even match. At one time Coetzee was one of the most feared heavys in the world and a champ. His fight with a prime Larry Holmes was even highly anticipated (it was cancelled). Bobick was a fringe contender at best and never lived up to his amatuer accolades(he made Holmes quit in the AMS). Coetzee would ko Bobick i have no doubt about that one.

Jimmy would almost certainly win a decision over Duane.

Jimmy Young??? Young could eat his lunch while he fooled with Bobick..it would be like a shadowboxing exhibition for Jimmy...man, these two guys, Coetzee and Young would have been sadistic mismatches for poor Duane...

Coetzee ko 3 Bobick hes just a tier higher.............. Why dont you match up Bobick with say a Lou Savarese,Vaughn Bean,Pierre Coetzer in these fantasy matchups? That was around the level he was at.
