I understand that he is having his stable matched against each other, but if it made money and sense, a Berto vs Pac or Cotto could have been made. He has to make some noise. Call out Bradley maybe.

Who cares if Berto had a close fight with Collazo? Chavez Jr. got a gift draw against Matt Vanda. Trust me, If Berto was with Top Rank, they would be making the fight. It's only not getting made because Top Rank wants to keep their fighters in house as much as possible. Look at Cotto's recent comp. Mosley and Jennings are the only non Top Rank fighters he's fought in the last 4 years. This crap about Berto not being proven enough is just that, crap. Cotto vs. Berto is one of the best fights that can be made out there. Unfortunately, Arum wants to keep his guys in house as much as possible.

Well theres no doubt in my mind that Cotto SHOULD be fighting someone along the lines of Berto, Angulo, Williams, ect.... and if i were to withold my belief that this (Chavez) fight will be a tough one for him and go with the grain that this is an easy W for Cotto, then i expect him to have scheduled a fight against a top fighter again soon after the Jr fight. Its very natural to not fight the best fighters out there EVERY fight.

Also, Arum doesnt have enough fighters to keep Cotto 'in house' for long... if that is indeed the case. (but lets be real, cotto has pretty much fought everyone there is out there, margarito, pac, clottey, while yes... were top rank fighters, were also some of the best welters around at the time. Im not stupid however, i know it is indeed a scheme of Arums, but i expect cotto to fight another name sometime soon... and arum only has so many options.

Berto-Cotto would make the most sense in every way but Arum is unfortunately not willing to take the risk, so in-house fights it is for now...

Haymon knows Cotto would slaughter Berto and will not give Arum the satisfaction of killing one of his last remaining meal tickets.

He has to make noise? What kind of noise was Foreman making? What about Jennings? What about Gomez? Yeah, Berto has to make noise alright. He has to make enough noise where he is a huge draw. Otherwise, he will never get a shot at Cotto or any other Top Rank fighter. This isn't rocket science. If Berto wants to fight Cotto, at least one of two things need to happen; He needs to sign with Top Rank and/or he needs to be a huge draw. He could unify all the belts at WW and be a top 5 pfp fighter, he still won't get the Cotto fight unless it's a huge fight and/or he signs with Top Rank.

The fight isn't signed yet, but that's the fight Arum wants to make in the fall if Chavez wins an interim fight in Sept.

Are you sure about that? Between Pac, Margo, Clottey, Chavez Jr. and Martirosyan, Arum could keep Cotto in house for the rest of his career.

How can he be fighting him then if the fight ain't signed?

Your words "Cotto is fighting is fighting Chavez Jr" (I'm not correcting your stupid mistakes)

All you do is repeat **** you read on here because you are a puppet.

Let's not get dramatic. Foreman gave him the challenge to win another title at a higher weight class and who is Jennings and Gomez? Cotto doesn't have to have a war each time out. That was the point I was stating. Make noise meaning fan base and demand. Unfortunately your right about either signing with Top Rank or as I just pointed out.

Alright, if you want to play that game. All signs point to Cotto fighting either Martirosyan or Chavez Jr. next. I have no idea why some people on this site are intent on picking fights based off of trivial nonsense(pointing out typos like we're still in school or something.) But I'll play the game of semantics with you if that's what you want to do

Well, that is if Wolak doesn't pull an upset which I hope he does. If in fact the fight is made with Chavez, Jr vs Cotto, I wouldn't take it. Again, Arum knows what he is doing. Why would he put Chavez, Jr. against Cotto. Cotto just shined with Foreman and Chavez, Jr. is undefeated. I don't know, but something is wrong with that picture.

I'm not getting dramatic, I'm just telling it like it is. The thread ask why Cotto won't fight Berto. The answer seems painfully obvious.
