Why have they seeded these fighters and then predicted a scenario where their original seeding would be proved wrong?

Dont they believe their own ranking system?

 

The alphasbets are only a promlem as theres 4+ of them. If you just has one of them, preferaby the IBF who do not have interim, gold, silver, emirates belts and enforce mandatories the boxing world would be better off.

I have never heard of a champion being stripped for the wrong reason. at the moment there 5 lineal champions, 6 after saturday and only 3 of them will of won the title by beating the champion.

I agree with you lineage is important but my whole point is your better of having the best fight the best. It would only be on a rare rare occasion that a Ring Champion would be stripped.

 

btw Bradley vs Alexander will no longer be for the RING title at Light Welterweight.

So The Ring did just 'make the decision for themselves', after considerable lobbying from the Klitschko team, it was not done above board at all.

How do people view Khan's performance against Kotelnik, in hindsight now, after having seen Devon Alexander struggle against him??

 

It was a world class performance and he boxed the perfect fight. it wasnt paticularly exciting but he used his strentghs to beat a fighter of Kotelniks style. I thought this before the Alexander fight and that fight only pushes the point.

The United States Championship Tournament was a promotional effort by promoter Don King to capitalize on the patriotism surrounding the United States Bicentennial and the American amateur success at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. King's "hope" was to defeat the non-American boxers who held the vast majority of world titles below the Heavyweight division. Keeping in line with the patriotic theme of the promotion, King held shows at "patriotic" locales—such as the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, as well as on an aircraft carrier stationed off Pensacola, Florida.

Despite the above, the 1977 Ring Record Book contained the fictitious additions to the records of the boxers in question, and were never taken out of their records of the boxers. Those dubious bouts would continue to appear in subsequent Ring Record Book editions.

This Ring Record Magazine scandal was uncovered by boxing writer Flash Gordon and ABC staffer Alex Wallau. After Gordon and Wallau's evidence was presented to ABC executives the United States Championship tournament was cancelled. It led to the eventual resignation of New York State Boxing Commissioner James Farley Jr. who had lent his name to the Championship fights and who was the son of former New York State Athletic Commissioner and former Postmaster General James Farley, who had died one year prior to the scandal. Farley had accepted a hotel room which had been furnished by King, this was used to smear Farley as dirty for accepting kickbacks, forcing his eventual resignation. No formal charges of impropriety were ever filed against Farley. The following year the Boxing Writers Association dedicated their highest honor the "James A. Farley Award", for honesty and integrity in the sport of Boxing.

Donald (Biff) Cline - given five first round knockouts in 1976
Mike Colbert - given three wins in 1976
Ike Fluellen - given two wins in Mexico in 1976
Anthony House
Hilbert Stevenson - given five wins, and a draw with House in 1976

 

Looking back, I believe Khan really did put on a boxing clinic against Kotelnik. And gotta give him much credit considering it was his first time up at LWW properly against a credible opponent. How does this change people perceptions of Alexander though? Was it simply a case of he made it tougher than it should have been?

Maidana, Khan, Bradley and Alexander are all 50-50 fights for numerous reasons. It comes down to execution. It is time to fight.

There was an incident of corruption in the Ring rankings over 30 years ago, that doesn't make "a history" .


The strange thing is the idiots that will bring it it up as if it relevant today and affects todays titles when they are more than happy to take the same **** off the current Alphabet Boys on a regular basis, week in and week out and convieniently forget to mention it......

So far of the 2 sets of "facts" against the Ring rankings you've presented, 1 consisted of Saul Alvarez being ranked a little too high and the second was a scandal thats over well 30 years old.

Good, relevant research Rob!! Do you think you could maybe find any **** on the WBA, WBA, IBF etc over the last 30 years? Theres that much **** on those guys you'd be typing from here until Xmas.
