Shaw says Bute, not Cloud next for Dawson. Good or Bad?

He is staying at 175. Shaw said Bute would have to move up to 175. Either that or a catchweight. It makes more sense anyway. Bute is a HUGE supermiddle and could easily carry 175.

 

Both Dawson and Shaw have said they're open to having the fight at 168.

At the 30 days weigh in, Dawson was at the same weight Bute is one week before fighting at SMW. Dawson can go down, Bute can go up. On fight nights, their weight is about the same. A catchweight is also possible.

 

I would think that Shaw is rather after Dawson vs Bute at 176lbs. I dont think that Bute can do 168lbs effectively for much longer anyway.

 

Bute made weight pretty easily for his last 2 fights. He weighed in at 166 for his rematch against Andrade.

 

Bute easily. That's a much better fight and would be Dawson's best win if he pulls it off.

Well if the fight is made at LHW, then I could appeal to it. Also makes sense for Bute. He shouldn't wait for the winner of super 6. And if he wait by fighting the drop outs of the tournament, still it won't do him as good as fighting the undefeated boss of LHW

Ya Bute is a much better fight, don't rate Cloud at all

 

Cloud has ZERO chance against either fighter, very limited guy.

 

If Dawson wins in Montreal, bringing him back to the city to face an even more beloved fighter in Bute would be a HUGE fight.

I'd make a point to fly there and see that one in person. Can't even imagine how much fun that would be.

My guess is that bout would be contested at a catchweight, which is fine. Make it at 171.5 to split it down the middle. Both guys are probably OK in either division, though probably easier for Bute to come up than for Dawson to move down.

I'd be okay with Dawson vs. Cloud, too, but that fight is nowhere on a par with Bute.

What was the actual weight?


I never trust fighters moving down. It's safer to move up for weight.

"On fight-night" you are at your normal weight which is why making weight for the scales is total b.s. in my opinion. They need to change that up.

When you make weight for the scales, most, have to drain their body and then hope they rehydrate correctly in time.
Not a fan of this.
I want healthy fighters in there.

Bute vs. Dawson would be a great fight. I want to see it happen. Shame though considering Bute should be in the Super-6. There can still be some big pay-days possibly even against the non-winner of that tournament. And fighting the winner would be big. But maybe if you beat Dawson, you could also have them move up to face you for your LH title and/or go back down.
