How long is Maidana going to need after his titanic battle with Corley to be ready to fight again? None of the other fighters you mention have agreed fights at the moment.
I would be surprised if he fights again this year. When did Khan say he wants to fight next? November? Like I said with the others they are negotiating to fight each other.
Vague statements in interviews does not really constitute 'negotiating'. Otherwise Khan is negotiating to fight nearly everyone. There have yet to be any actual discussions about Bradley v Alexander other than both promoters starting to trade press releases about where they won't fight. We'll see what happens when they get to financials, it wouldn't suprise me greatly if both camps think the fight is worth more than HBO do.
Shaw has said they are going up to HBO to start negotiating and will hopefully get it signed by the end of the week, which backs up what I said about them negotiating. So who do you see Khan facing next if none of the other fights that are being negotiated fall through? Out of whats available I'd like to see him fight Judah or maybe even Berto if he's prepared to drop down like he said he would.
Well, like I said, no reason to think that if Maidana is having what we are agreed can be looked on as no more than a stay busy fight in August, it's not at all unreasonable to consider he might fight again in November. That depends of course whether he is going to be more interested in taking on the big boys in the division now that he has extricated himself from his managerial situation.
Did Khan force anything to get a shot at Kotelnik's WBA title?, the answer is no. If Khan wants it he can make the fight, simple as.
The answer is that Khan's promoter made Kotelnik a good enough offer to secure the fight. How did you think it happened? Maidana has a mandatory position, so doesn't need to do that, he just needs to enforce the mandatory.
I know that he made him an offer, what else would he have done?. My point is Lazarus was asking Maidana to "enforce" it, Khan didn't exactly do the same to earn his shot.
Well no, obviously. Because it was a completely different situation. What's your actual point seeing as no-one is arguing otherwise?
You're not making any sense. The point you were responding to was about Maidana not making the fight with Khan and you responded by citing the fact that Khan did make a fight against Kotelnik. And? I've made this point before and the Khan haters always ignore it.What would you say if the situation was reversed and Maidana was the champion and Khan the mandatory? If Maidana said he wanted to fight Khan, but Khan said he wanted a couple more fights beforehand to build up his name? If Khan had also in the meantime had turned down an offer to fight Tim Bradley and had never enforced his mandatory against Maidana. If that had all happened, would you be saying Maidana was ducking?
Did Khan call out Maidana and get a "Sorry, I need more fights to build up myself" response?, if so please let me know because I might have missed it. I don't really care if I make sense to you or not. Point is, Lazarus asked for Maidana to enforce the fight by becoming Khan's mandatory. My response to him was that Khan didn't exactly do the same to get a shot at Kotelnik, all he did was offer and they accepted because Khan's a well established name in England already. So that's the business side of it which I'd rather NOT involve in this discussion, it's about becoming someone's mandatory. If he asked for Maidana to do it, then why didn't Khan do it for Kotelnik's belt?. Oh and by the ****ing way, I'm not saying anyone is ducking, that's not my point here because it's obviously not the case. If still I'm not making sense to your intellectual superiority then don't bother and respond.
That's not what Maidana says. He said it was his decision. Although it's fairly obvious that GBP would prefer their two prospects not to be tangling with each other before both are more well known. That's not what Maidana says. He said he did know what the offer was and turned it down because it was too small. Khan has said on multiple occasions that he would like to fight Maidana. Maidana could force the fight any time he wants. Khan would then fight him or vacate. If he vacated your point would be proven.
No he didn't. Maidana is already Khan's mandatory. If he enforces the mandatory with the WBA they will order Khan to either fight Maidana or they will strip him. Maidana could also do what Khan did with Kotelnik and make an offer to Khan for the title fight without it going through the pursebids process. As he had a mandatory claim, either are options for him. To this point he has exercised neither option. Khan had no mandatory claim on Kotelnik therefore only had the second option, which is how he got the fight. If Kotelnik had turned down the offer, then Khan's only way to fight for the title would have been to work his way into a mandatory position himself.
