You're being way to hard on Oscar? His performance was lackluster at 147? Really? His unification of two divisions don't account for anything? Whitaker had a longer list of weak opposition than Oscar as did Chavez and yet they're gods on ESB. Bottom line is the only thing Oscar had against him was a stacked era. But that's what made him great.

I think the era of boxing now is creating a myth that is bliding people when looking backwards. Mayweather would not have been undefeated in DLH's era.

Oscar De La Hoya has the best resume of the last 20 years imo. Especially when you consider that he truly only has 1 SD loss in his prime agains Mosley.

He has won more titles
He has fought and beat more champions
He has never ducked anyone
His 2 losses in the prime of his life were 1. Contraversial 2. SD

Great Heart
Great foot work
Great Chin
Great offense
Very good defense
Great Jab
Great Lefthook
Could brawl
Could box on his toes

Oscar came up at 130lbs,of course he's going to face some of the fighters Felix fought.Trinidad came up at 147 into the pro's,,he may have fought once or twice at 140,not sure.

How do you feel about Trinidad fighting Whitaker straight out of rehab,well after Oscar took the title from him.

 

Not only did Tito fight Whitaker after Whitaker's heart was taken from him by Oscar, and was after he was sent spiraling down into a coke binge.

But to add insult to injury, Trinidad had MANY, MANY years to unify the 147 division by fighting the true 147 champ in Whitaker, but he NEVER DID...OScar had to move up from 140 and do what Trinidad didn't at 147, and that was fight the truw WW champ, P4P#1 in Pernell Whitaker.
