Yeah, but the only guys he's fought in that time period are Tarver and Johnson. They are very tough guys to stop. I'm not saying Dawson will stop Pascal, but Dawson's recent streak of going the distance is not an accurate representation of his punching power.

 

Chad's letting little stuff Pascal says get to him. All he needed to say is something like, "I will fight like a champ, we are great fighters and will produce a great fight nothing less. No chickens in here just great champs *laughs*" This is what boxing needs I love pre-fight hype. There hasn't been a great rivalry between young fighters in awhile maybe they can spark one amongst themselves.

 

Jean Pascal has already been proven to be a pretty tough customer himself, and is younger, faster, and more explosive than the likes of Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver. Dawson will go into this fight a pretty heavy favorite, and rightfully so, but for people to expect him to "punish" and "destroy" the likes of Jean Pascal with relative ease is a little bit wayward for my liking.

 

I guess we'll see. Dawson did dominate Adamek when he was all of 24 years old. I remember before that fight everyone said he wasn't ready for Adamek and he ended up winning just about every round. I think Pascal's best chance is to try to lure Dawson into a brawl. If he tries to outbox Dawson, he just may get dominated.

 

I agree. What frustrates me about Shaw is that I actually like how he'll match his best prospects tough. Look at what Dawson and Lacy accomplished during their 20s. He's not the kind of promoter to protect a fighter who has real talent. ... usually.

Think this is going to be an excellent fight.

 

Adamek doesn't possess the athletic ability of a Jean Pascal.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Pascal decisively out-boxed, but all of this talk of it being a massacre and that Pascal is going be brutally destroyed...who is this guy fighting again? Peak Mike Tyson? :yep Bad Chad outboxes people, that's what he does. He doesn't run them over with a forklift truck.

 

Wow. Pascal is going to absolutely destroy that fragile Glass Mandible of Dawson's. Dawson can box but let's face it, he got beaten by shot Jamaican journeyman plodder Glen Johnson. :rofl:rofl

Pascal isn't exactly a boxing sumpremo, but he carries serious thunderbolt power in both fists. He's going to Shatter some serious Glass come fight night and send that hypejob's Jaw into orbit. :deal

Harding looked like he was run over with a forklift truck after his fight with Dawson. He was bleeding all over the place. This is a big fight for both guys. This is a chance for Pascal to put himself on the elite level and this is Chad's chance to shine against a young, top LHW.

 

Pascal couldn't win a brawl against Froch so I don't think he can win one against Dawson either. Dawson will still be a class above, even in a brawl. People seem to think Pascal is now twice the fighter he was against Froch. I don't see it myself.

 

You don't belive this. And as a chin checker you should be cognisant of the fact that Pascal was wobbled by Omar Pittman and then imediately canceled his proposed fight with Miranda. I remember you also picked Allan Green against Ward and we all saw how that turned out.

 

Good vid. Dawson is in full Marvin Hagler mode here. Cool but menacing. Not that he fights the same way (obviously), but you can tell he's been thinking about how to market himself. He even has the 1950s "buddy" thing going.

I like Pascal. Seems like a no-bull**** guy. However this bout goes, I'm pulling for both to enjoy a lot of career success.

 

Dawson hit the canvas in that fight didn't he? In any event, another fighter he seemingly wasn't capable or prepared to stop.

No reason for the constant back and forth Reg, I don't see there being any real dispute about what kind of fighter Chad Dawson has proven himself to be over the last three years. Those fights indicate that he'll be out-boxing Pascal as opposed to blasting him out there in brutal fashion.

If I'm wrong and Dawson changes his whole persona over night and blasts Pascal out of there with ease, feel free to remind me of our little discussion here and I'll happily eat crow. I fully expect the betting favorite to win the fight, but not as easily and conclusively as the consensus here is suggesting.

 

Pascal was outboxed by Froch. Seen some of his fights against Silvio Branco and Ikeke and didnt look particularly impressive. We'll see.
