:lol: You're the only one who laughed at this on the Adamek thread. Disappointed, I thought it was an instant classic.

You obviously didnt see the first fight with Holmes. Spinks won that fight by wide margin(deservingly so), even the 2nd one is overblown when they talk about robberies, i think the 2nd fight was very close. Cooney was still dangerous when Spinks knocked him out. Despite Cooney having a 4 inch height advantage and 30 plus pounds.

SO now fighters are Bitches for retiring :patsch Did you know Spinks didnt even want to turn pro after the Olympics despite winning a Gold Medal? But he found himself cleaning toilets and went back to fighting. So its to no surprise that he quit after he no was no longer at his best, actually it was the smart thing to do.

THey all can be Blood and Guts warriors like your homie Andrew Golota:lol:

Some of my sources indicate that Cooney went into his fight with the much smaller Spinks as the favorite. Are these sources deceiving me? :think

The final barrage of hooks and uppercuts was typical of Spinks, who was renowned finisher indeed. Cooney took a bit of a hammering.

Spinks was a fantastic Light Heavyweight. As a Heavyweight, Adamek have taken him. Spinx wasn't nearly as good as a Heavyweight. I would still lean towards Spinx on this one.

Since Cooney was the first true Puncher he had faced at heavy and also a Big heavy(even by todays standards) many were picking him to crush the blown up heavyweight Spinks. But there were many(including myself) who though Cooney had been out to long and that Spinks was the real deal at heavy. Im not sure what the Vegas odds were but most of the Magazines and Press were pretty much split. Still an impressive win for Spinks.

Actually i think he was better defensively,More awkward and faster(PFP) than at LH. But he didnt have the big size advantage,One punch power, or Chin that he did at LH. I dont think Adamek has much of a chance here. Id pick Spinks to beat everyone out there today except Wlad and maybe Vitali. Although i like Vitali better than Wlad. Style wise Spinks might be to slippery, awkward and fast for the robotic Vitali.

Spinks at heavy would outclass Haye,Adamek,Povetkin etc etc.

Agreed. I think Michael Spinks was a relatively good Heavyweight, but he had the misfortune of fighting the likes of Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson.

That version of Mike would make a mockery of today's division just as did then.

    Fair enough!

More so than anything my beef is with the simple fact that people always overrate a fighter from the past when comparing them with modern fights.

This thread just so happened to involve my favorite fighter;)
