This keeps Pac from using 10 oz gloves ....any weights from 154 & up use 10 oz gloves this is what arum wants he wants Pac to use 8 oz Reyes gloves ....Point blank.

If so, that's a tactical error on Arum's part. Smaller gloves would be more beneficial to Margarito than Pacquiao. Pacquaio shouldn't be able to turn this into a firefight. He should be using his speed to full advantage and look for a wide UD or late stoppage coming from an accumulation of punches.

I'm not at all in favor of a catchweight for a light middleweight title. Whether it's a "paper title" or not doesn't matter. What matters is that Pacquiao is making history, and everybody in the mainstream media will call him a champion in eight weight classes, a feat never before achieved. Nobody is going to pay attention to all of our "yeah, but"s. All that matters is what's in the history books, and what's in the history books will be that Pacquiao won titles in eight divisions. If he's going to manipulate history like that, the least he should do is fight someone who has the freedom to weight in as much as he likes up to the limit established by the OWNERS OF THE BELT WHO ARE AWARDING THE TITLE.

That already happens to other boxers. It's already affecting history. How many of DLH's titles were legitimately won by beating a champion? How many were paper titles? Same for SRL, Hearns, or even Floyd. It's going to keep happening too. ****, guys like Mayorga and Judah are seen as mutliple division world champs too.

    wrong

154 is a weight limit, any weight above 147 is light middle so they will have to use 10oz

My argument wasn't about winning paper titles, which I think is about as legit as anything else. It was about winning titles at catchweights, which further de-legitimize the integrity of those titles. You're basically telling the council that issues the title at weight classes it designates to go **** itself because you're going to fight at the weight you want to fight at AND you're going to make your opponent fight at the weight you want him to fight at.

The weight divisions come in a RANGE, not a single weight. That's the bottom line. Again....the weight divisions come in RANGES, not one specific weight.

No where does it say a WW title fight needs to take place at 147. Or any weight for that matter. I don't like catchweights, but if both parties agree, then who the **** am I to complain?

Who cares about the council and integrity of titles; catchweights are there to give one boxer an advantage over the other.

I'm not overly concerned with it TBH but this just proves Arum's genius because this issue barely gets any attention. Imagine if Floyd made Shane fight at 145? I'm sure Shane would have accepted it too.

I know they come at a range and not a single weight. But it should be the fighters who choose of their own free will what weight up to the limit to come in at. Given the massive amount of leverage Pacquiao has over Margarito, does anybody actually think Margarito WANTS to fight at 151, or that he wouldn't love to come in at 154 if he were allowed? Of course not, he's being forced because he has no other option.

One fighter taking advantage of another in something as important as weight is a practice that should be banned. Contracted weights should be banned full stop for any commissioned boxing match. If you're fighting for ranking or a title by the WBC for weight guidelines established by the WBC, then you should not be allowed to put in a contract contradicting the guidelines established by the WBC with an artificially low weight limit.

They're not doing anything illegal or against any rules right now, of course, but it *should* be against the rules because it's a bad practice.

So you're pissed off by meaningless things? I think that about sums up the catchweigh "controversy".

It matters because when the history books say that pacquiao won the jr. middleweight title for a record eighth title, it's overlooking an important detail that there was an artificial limit put there. You're then unfairly comparing the magnitude of his accomplishment to the accomplishments of boxers in the past who did not do that. A catchweight is how a boxer with a lot of leverage can take advantage of a boxer with no leverage, and that's the wrong way to go about things. If you're going to be one of the jr. middleweight champions, have confidence in your ability to fight jr. middleweights at whatever weight they want to come in at, or don't fight at jr. middleweight.

People that are complaining about the fight being at 151 Can any of you tell me what are the advantages that Pac has over Margo at a 151 catchweight?
