See title. This has been a black cloud over Duran his whole career and I want to see what fans of the sweet science think on this matter...
it's a loss, an embarassing loss and signalled the end of his true prime. do i count it that much against him? not really. he had his pride and he stuck with it.
none- because he never actually said 'no mas', he quit because he was getting outboxed and clowned on, not beaten up...he said something like 'no voy a boxear con el payaso' meaning 'im not going to fight this clown'
this is true. i mean i hated the way leonard was clowning and all but well, duran quit. either way, it was still quitting.
Affects him quite a bit i think. He is a great fighter but come on look at Victor Ortiz. He did the same thing and Ortiz was getting hammered by Maidana. What makes it worse is that he is Latino.
Difference is that Ortiz quit because he couldn't take the punishment (and was afraid of taking any more), Duran quit because SRL was trying to humiliate him by showboating. It isn't the same thing
Some ****in bull**** on this thread. Duran must be the only fighter in history to be excused for quitting. ****in bull****.
