    my thing is this...
wether or not cotto is better on the inside, you gotta take leather to get in, and chavez also goes to the body really good, and hits hard....so you can't just say cotto will dominate, remember...for a while cotto did abandon his "in-fighting" and went more for a boxer backfoot type of fighter.......

He just doesn't strike me as being as tough as Margarito, lets keep in mind he threatened to retire after he got booed after he won a controversial fight against that white dude from Minnesota.

he never threatened to quit, they just made it seem that way.......and it wasn't really controversial, they just wanted a knockout and he couldn't deliver....

He's being handed his easiest 7 figure payday ever, why would he leave if he's getting the biggest favor of his career?

Chavez should have fought Wolak before taking on Cotto. He needs more rounds with Roach and more rounds with tough but beatable guys like Wolak. Cotto is too big of a step up for Chavez, he'd never beat Cotto but he could have helped himself a lot with some more work. Cotto will obviously beat Chavez but I think Chavez might make Cotto work for the first half of the fight. But Cotto will wear Chavez down and beat him up bad in the second half of the fight. Cotto by stoppage.

So if Chavez Jr is going to fight Cotto at 154, what happens to his WBC #1 ranking at 160?

    Chavez stops Cotto late.

I don't buy this Steward re-energized Cotto stuff. Miguel's suffered two brutal KO's, even the Mosely and Judah fights were rough on him. Yuri Foreman hits lighter than Mallinagi, Chavez puts some power on Cotto, and Cotto starts to crack. This fight is just Arum transferring one fighter's popularity to another, one who's on the way out, the other who's on the way in.

The Wolak fight would've got in the way. It'd be over in September then he'd have to rest alteast a few weeks. To prepare for Cotto he wants to start training camp fresh. Plus I imagine his camp will be side by side with Pacquiao's camp as he gets ready for Margarito. Chavez TKO Cotto.

If that happens then this sport isn't worth watching anymore.

Why would Chavez call off a fight with Wolak, if he was so beatable?

It would have made good practice before Cotto, to fight a tough, gritty fighter like Wolak who just keep coming. Keep him fresh, some extra experience, and a bit of money. As Wolak was gonna take a pretty small cut.

So why? Because Wolak is too much of a risk to him and he knows it. Wolak was no give me fight for Chavez, and he didnt want to mess up a big pay-day against Cotto, by risking a fight with Wolak first.

Cotto will steam roll Chavez Jr.

Much like Duddy/Smichet or Vera/Lee. Those fights cost Duddy and Lee millions.
