Alvares by TKO. In the Maidana fight we saw Ortiz quit when it got tough. In the Cotto fight we saw Alvares keep firing back even though he was hurt. That would be the main difference. Both have all the tools but only one has the heart to be a ATG.
I dont want to get into another debate where I stick up for Ortiz but if they fight at WW i'd definitely go with him.
Exactly. Canelo has the instinct to throw when hes hurt. He keeps composure as Ortiz doesn't. Canelo wins. I like the idea of that fight.
Alvarez was being hit by Jose Cotto, the lightweight, Ortiz by Maidana, the biggest puncher at light-welter now that Bailey has moved up.
Of course it matters, the difference in power is huge. Further, Maidana was relentless, Cotto had a good start, but went downhill quick.
it does matter, watch the fights, they were different type of hurts..i cant see saul winning this one.....wait a minute, are you one of the few that said saul was ready to fight paquiao????
IDK. Ortiz seems to be using his brain now and boxing pretty good, taking using his southpaw advantage. He was a go for broke, risk taking ko artist, and when he couldn't keep Maidana down, **** hit the fan. I think he's learning to not be one dimensional and be more of a boxer puncher where he won't get hit as much and break opponents down instead of going for broke. Not as exciting, but a much more effective method. Canelo is a textbook fighter with heavy hands who is very strong offensively, but weak defensively. He reminds me of Cotto, but doesn't have the footwork, defense, or angles Cotto has, but Canelo does have some fluidity and did have a defense of bobbing and weaving and getting out of the way before, but now that he's fighting better opposition, now would be a good time to use it. He failed to clinch Jose Cotto when in trouble and I cannot stress how much he needs to learn how to clinch. He needs to spar or have a big puncher like Mosley throw powershots at him without him throwing shots back and learn how to clinch in his training camp. It would be a great fight though if these 2 met in the future. Classic Mexican vs. Mexican-American war.
Alvarez might be a little big for Ortiz, no? Otherwise, both are talented but Ortiz may be a bit more proven at the moment.
