Australian interim WBO lightweight champion Michael Katsidis has warned Amir Khan to forget about fighting Juan Manuel Marquez.

Katsidis, 29, is confident of securing a fight with WBA super and WBO full champion Marquez in what has been described by his camp as the "pinnacle fight" of his career.
Marquez beat Juan Diaz with a unanimous points win to retain his titles at the end of last month, a bout which was reportedly of interest to Briton Khan.
But Katsidis is adamant he will be Marquez's next opponent, and that Khan can forget about any hopes he harbours of taking on the Mexican star in the near future.
"I have remained available to honour my commitment with the WBO and am very pleased to see why the WBO remains the most prestigious of boxing's organisations," Katsidis said.
"The time has come for me to face the very elite of the sport, giving boxing fans worldwide one of the greatest fights it will ever see, and as such is the reward of my team's effort.
"I see recently Amir Khan was observing closely the Juan Diaz-Juan Manuel Marquez clash. Marquez is mine or else he is another conversation we should continue back in England. I’ve been there before and am happy to do it again."

 

I hope katsidis gets Khan, that would be a much more winnable fight then jmm, and probably a bigger purse, i wonder who draws more money khan or jmm, Kats cut would prob be what 20-25 percent?

 

Yep, more dosh fighting khan in the uk. Kats has a bigger profile there and would have a fair bit of support too. Kats treats his opponents and opponents fans with respect and garners their respect in turn, the way it should be done.

Keep thinking jmm is getting old and ripe for the pickings - but he always looks classy.

im torn here. I always support the aussie boy, but its not every day the aussie boy is fighting you favourite fighter of this generation. JMM TKO late on cuts unfortunately.

True, But Master Roach has taught Khan to protect that iffy chin at all costs , like i predicted a few months ago Khan cuts kats to ribbons by 6 and then its just a matter of time ( around round 8 ) imo .

 

So if its Kats vs Khan will the china chin come down to lightweight ? Cause I dont see Kats going up to 140.

 

That's the golden question RA , IMO I think Kats will be tempted up and that's where i see Khan having the advantage . Do you think the JMM fight will happen mate ? i have a sneaky feeling if Floyd v Pac can't be made we may see another Pacman fight on the horizon for JMM ,that in money terms will hold more reward than defending v Kat's (sad but true ) , it's just a question of will Manny bite imo mate? .
