So apparently the fight may be off. http://www.boxingtalk.com/pag/article.php?aid=20331 Im really hoping this article is incorrect. Anyone has some inside info on the situation? Apparently Dirrell and Ward dont want to fight each other as they are "friends". What the hell does that mean? Screw it, put Dirrell in with Bute and you'll see Pirog/Jacobs all over again LOL.
The article states that no venue has been chosen (which is 100% correct, no venue has been chosen of yet) Neither Ward nor Dirrell are currently in training camp And the 2 do not want to, and are not going to, fight each other. Can anyone verify this article? Or does anyone have some inside information?
Bull****. They both signed to fight each other and knew it was probably coming. If this is true, it is pure ****ing bull****.
I think Dirrell just wants to reschedule for a much later date to wait and see how the other super 6 fights play out.
Why would he want to wait and see how the other fights play out? He has to beat Ward whatever happens...
I thought all the Super Six participants signed contracts saying they're locked in and will fight each other as the fights play out. WTF is this ****?
Well **** them then, the round robin match-ups were decided right at the beginning, they knew what they signed for. This is one of the premier fights of the entire tournament and has very serious marketing purposes for the S6's and Showtime's future, in fact the most anticipated fight possibly of the entire show. So they can go to hell if Dirrell decides to get out with 1 loss and let his buddy go through with 2 wins, Ward should be stripped and Dirrell sued for breach of contract if that happens. And I have this strange feeling it just might! I am suspicious ever since Shaw threatened to pull out after the Froch fight and demanded rematch which is impossible under S6 rules, then there were rumors of Ward pulling out with the title to go to HBO, plus conflicts between Goossen and Hershman. Looks like the fat ******* and Danny boy think they can play major games, bit if in fact the suggestion of BT that a cancellation is on the table, they shall be quickly reminded of the million dollar lawsuits that will follow. Promoters only learn through their purses. Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the fight falls off, they never seriously negotiated a fight location, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they knew from the beginning if the two meet, the one with the less chance going to SFs will pull out. With Shaw and Goossen, would you be surprised of such tricks?
I think this is just a BS rumour. Ward was talking about this fight in an interview only like 2 weeks ago, saying "it's a tough call, fighting someone you're close to but this is business, Dirrell knows that and i know that so we gotta do what we gotta do". These guys know what they signed up for, they're pro's. I don't believe this rumour for a second.
a lot of overreacting going on. I could see the fight being pushed back, but I doubt either guy would pull out of the tournament.
