Is anyone really stupid enough to believe this clown? Ward did an interview yesterday where he disscussed this fight(and yes he is currently training). To suggest that these two wouldn't fight eachother because of their friendship just doesn't make sense. I'm not surprised as the site where that article came from gives out inaccurate info all the time.

Its a rumour at this point in time.

I do find it a little strange tho, that no venue has been picked out. The fight is set to occur 9/25.

You would think by now a venue would have been chosen.

PS) The article is substantiated and comes from a trusted source.

Its a rumour at this point.

But, in boxing, a lot of times these rumours become fact.

The fight may very well get postponed, but it's not getting canceled. That wouldn't even make sense. I believe this same site suggested that Ward was going to drop out of the tournament and take his belt with him after beating Kessler.

They'll fight. No one will ever seriously negotiate with either fighter again if they don't.

The issue is that the only lacation they can sell enough tickets for this fight is Oakland, and no one wants to stand for that, of course.

Them refusing to fight because of friendship is a complete non issue.

i just read this myself, sounds like dirrel doesnt want to negate his future so is going to pull out before he becomes unmarketable, in time if he did this and fought chad dawson etc people would forgie or forget about it

 @ anyway taking that website seriously.

The fight will happen. I don't expect a good one though. They won't try to hurt each other. They're just gonna try to outbox/outslick/outskill the other.

Not that I don't think you're talking bollocks, but lets just say hypothetically Dirrell didn't think he stood a chance against Andre Ward and wanted out of the fight, why would he be looking to fight Chad Dawson? :?

I don't understand why this fight's not taking place in Madison Square Garden or atleast Atlantic City. Shaw and Goosen were such great promoters they'd be hyping this fight already. This is a pretty big fight, but no press confrences yet.

I don't see how the fighters can back out. Showtime's put a lot of money up front on this tournament, Ward and Dirrell will be untouchable by HBO for years after the tournament ends. Goosen and Shaw would also face legal action, not to mention they'll have hard time getting future fights on the network -(which Goosen & Shaw depend on since they only get scraps from HBO).

Because, for the most part, Americans won't pay to go see a boxing match.
