It'll get put back because there's no venue and neither has trained. Them not wanting to fight is all bull**** and scaremongering from the journalists.

Folks(including Dirrell camp) just have to accept that the fight will be in Oakland. They can sell multitudes more tickets there than any where else.

They can potentially sell upwards of 8, 9, 10 thousand+ in Oakland, as opposed to less than 2 thousand in Detroit or other locales.

WHAT THE ****? So they are friends, but as Mike Tyson used to say frequently, this is BUSINESS! Once its over, they can be friends again!

Can you imagine a guy like Marvin Hagler saying, "Oh, I don't think I can go through with fighting you because you are my friend!" No way would he even THINK like that, let alone make it aloud!

If the fight does not happen because they are friends, then that means tat least one of them knew at the start they were not going to go through with it!

The fans get let down once again!

This is bull****. I don't believe a word of it. They would get sued for pulling a stunt like this.

Not only would they get sued, they would also find it very difficult to get anyone to negotiate with them for future fights.

I was thinkin BS but I don't know. Them not being in training camp could mean the fight is being pushed back if that is true.

Lets say hypothetically that the fight is off and dirrell pulls out the tourney. That pretty much would tell me that one thing is about to happen and that is Dirrell vs Bute. Bute is sitting on the sideline with no tough fights in site besides a speculated catch weight fight with dawson. Shaw could be making a move for dirrell to take his sideline position and wait for the S6 winner (ward) a few years down the road (when tourney ends). Really I thought this would happened if dirrell lost to ward. Maybe they see that as being likely and are just gonna move forward and fight bute. I don't think shaw thinks too highly of bute's status at the top along with his resume of best win against bika. It's an easier road I guess and I will not be mad if that is the route taken. If dirrell drops out and fights anyone else then it's gonna look terrible.

Financially I don't know what would happen as far as dollar amounts to a lawsuit or if thier would be a lawsuit at all. Most fans percieve ward as the best 168 and have him beating dirrell. The tourney would go on and ward will win it alot easier without having to face the only fighter equal to him technically with greater handspeed and pop.

I've been looking but have had no luck finding numbers. Does anyone have confirmed figures for the actual number of paid tickets sold for Ward's fights against Miranda, Kessler and Green (as opposed to number of people in attendance)?

Most Americans don't even know about this fight or these fighters. Blame these promoters, they haven't done their job in anyway. Shaw and Goosen simply ride their fighters rather than build them. As the two main american promoters for the tournament, had they been doing a decent job, this tournament would've been substaintially bigger in the US than it disappointedly is. If Ward or Dirrell had been a Arum/King/ or even Golden Boy fighter, this tournament would've been huge in the US.

I doubt they will have a problem making fights. This isn't dirrell's camp messing someone over (besides fans of a good stylistic fight). There are more peices to this story. Him pulling out the tourney would mess showtime up (just slightly) but there will be no history of him screwing over another fighters camp by pulling out of a fight.

If either fighter pulls out under these circumstances, they won't be able to legally fight for years. Showtime granted Taylor's exit for medical reasons, and even then he's not allowed to fight til after stage 1 is complete.

If Either do pull out for the reasons hinted then they should be classed as disgraces and cowards.

Besides Floyd mayweather, Arum and goldenboy's Top fighters are the only ones who get time on ESPN (very little at that). American fight fans are hardcore fans and sadly there are not alot of us in perportion to the size of the US. The MMA has more fans now because you can watch fights just about everynight on spike and verses networks. The boxing is boring stuff has got into the heads of people who just want brawling while not understanding boxing really. Promoters don't even try anymore because they know boxing has a cult like following in the US.
