That can be easily worked out and nothing is absolute. Money makes things go and I think they would be happy to let thier fighter dirrell fight bute (HBO fighter) for a piece of that purse and to have a belt back at showtime. It would only set up a later date for ward, who will win the tourney hands down. The story line of friends finally fighting will be bigger at that time. Dirrell pulling out the tourney now will not affect it as much as people think.

As for Taylor, he shouldn't even be aloud to play fight night round 4.

Ward is definately not pulling out so don't get your hopes up. It's pretty much set in stone that he will win it. This is all about dirrell. Ward will surely agree not to do this fight if it really is a friendship thing. That doesn't mean he is pulling out the tourney. Dirrell is the only one who can put a kink in wards armor and show some flaws in wards game. Without this fight, ward will have very smooth sailing with the less skilled fighters left.

A major reason for that is because of the fights people are presented with. ESPN and PPV undercard fights are commonly poor fights. Either you get no hope super middle weights or cruiser weights fighting on ESPN or flyweights on PPV. You rarely see a marquee fighter in a competive match unless in a HBO/Showtime main event.

I think MMA would suffer the same obscurity if not for the UFC. UFC is essentially a single promoter which keeps it's fights in house, but also happens to own 90% of all the top fighters and all the network time. The interest they generate then trickles down to the lesser outfits. If you were to combine the top 5 promoters in boxing, you might be able to achieve similar results? Depending on the actual people running it. White and the Zuffa's have complete control and are able to make fast and decisive decisions on how to market their fighters.

exactly if dirrel doesnt think he has got a chance and a loss at this stage of his career as erly as itis might hurt hismarketing ability so he moves up challenges some good opposition in lhw as it isnt too deep then has a big fight with dawson.

thats not hard to fathom surely :dead

Him and dawson are under shaw so I doubt that but still anything is possible regardless of likelyhood. I don't think dirrell will be able to make 168 for that long though so who knows. If he goes to LHW I dont think he will come back. I see it as a straigth aim for Bute which I will be fine with.

A 26 year old with that little self-belief wouldn't be going anywhere. Like I said I doubt that it's anything more than you talking bollocks though.

i didnt know that, but tht is possible, if dirrel fights bute and moves up if he wins and clears light heavyweight with dawson. then that would be a big fight especially if both are on winning streaks.

im not from US is dirrel on hbo?

because if he isnt it could be a manouvere to get paid bigger money and make bigger fights

its not neccesarily low self belief but if he feels that he might get a bad decision especially if the fight is in wards back yard he might prefer to go a different path and move up etc

I said long ago that this was some of the smaller guys getting together to compete against the larger promoters. But now we see why they are the 'small guys' to begin with.

Dirrell is a showtime fighter but would be fighting Bute on HBO if that happened.

put it to one side. both are the best fighters in the division. do it both for yourselves, this is the highest ranking fight you both have ever had. it would be stupid to just say no.

simon brown-maurice blocker for a great fight between stupidly close friends.
