Nope, just a guy that shakes his head at the death of infighting when people call a guy a dirty fighter for using tactics that are perfectly acceptable at the championship level, were lauded in several other fighters, and are an essential part of the inside game :-(

I don't even like Ward particularly much, as a fighter or a person, hate his personality actually. But the kind of flack thrown his way is indicative of another decline in boxing strategy.

Is it acceptable to lead with your head?

In fact, yes it is! As long as your head isn't directed at the other guy's in the form of a thrown blow(and i don't think Ward was slamming his head into Kesslers in such a fashion). You can use your head to pin on the other guys chest, to maneuver, you can use it as a part of your defense on the inside. Holyfield does this. Duran did it, Chavez, Armstrong, Hopkins.... Its not pretty, but it's a part of the game and perfectly legitimate.

    Yeah, the most impressive boxing.

The way he was able to counter when AA would flurry is amazing. PBF quality stuff.

I'll have to rewatch the fight again to see for myself, but I still don't think Ward should be condemned for his technique in any way. Heads do clash unintentionally, and at that distance it is almost expected, especially when people are fighting for leverage. Against Green you have to admit it was less pronounced, and part of the reason is that Green, unlike Kessler, had 0 infighting skill and couldn't use his own head to maneuver for a proper hitting position.

Yep watch the fight again. I was actually saying the same things about Ward whooping Kessler in the start, but I watched the fight again and I saw something else, which was Wards intentional headbutts. So watch it again and focus on his head and tell me what you think.
