The problem is that most of the people saying that weighing in at 151lbs will 'weaken' Margarito are the same ones who would have been demanding the fight should happen at 147lbs if it had been a year ago.

As I understand it, it goes like this:

    Antonio Margarito's fighting capability/weigh-in weight

    145lbs weak like kitten
    146lbs
    weak like kitten
    147lbs strong like ox
    148lbs
    weak like kitten
    149lbs weak like kitten
    150lbs weak like kitten
    151lbs weak like kitten
    152lbs weak like kitten
    153lbs weak like kitten
    154lbs strong like ox

okay for one you need to look up the exact definition for Welterweight, Middleweight ... or any division

because that's where the whole issue comes from

and if boxing really couldn't enforce this rule like you say

the why don't we see more fighters coming in at 3-4 pounds under the divisional limit, and try to do it to their opponents

not flaming, but where are you getting this "weight divisions come with a range"

I've looked up several definitions of welterweight and none of them say anything about a range ... all it says is a division where the max weight is 147

** and there's a difference between a fighter willingly weighing 146 ... like Cotto did vs Clottey

    vs having to weight 145

of course both are valid weights for the Welterweight division .. since both are under 147, but their is a difference.

Thats the thing, these people are so blinded by boxing standards that they forget logic. The human body doesnt work in weight divisions.

For example a man walking round at 152 isnt gonna be weak as a kitten as you put it but suddenly become as strong as an ox if he diets down to 147 or bulks up to 154

I would much prefer they keep the fight at 154, but any one with a bit of common sense can realise that it really doesnt make a blinding bit of difference. Margo isnt a JMW struggling to make JMW, he is a WW as is Pac and they both moved up to JMW.

Give it a rest. Cotto said he has absolutely no problem making the weight and felt strong at it. His nutritionist said he was fine at the weight. Joe Santiago says he was fine at the weight. Hate on a forum says he was a walking skeleton, therefore he was a walking skeleton

Added to that he was actually putting a pounding on pac for abit in that fight. Pac just outsmarted and outfought him thats all. With margarito im sure he will be fine at 151 considering he was a damn beast at 147. The problem that i have is that pac will get called a 154 champ when he doesnt allow fighters to come into the fight at the maximum weight.

but if you yourself are saying the catchweight doesn't make a difference

then why is it used in the first place by Team Pacquiao?

fighting at 150 might have the exact same effect as if Margarito were to fight at 154

but this fight is being fought at the catchweight

so if it really does make zero difference, why use the catchweight in the first place?

PAc's fans defending PAc for fighting catch weight fights are weasels themselves lol... You are a cancer PAc fans, and when PAc retires, we won't have to see another 145 or 151 lb title fight ever lol. It's because you never boxed that you don't understand how making weight affects a fighter mentally and physically.

You only see things from a ***** riding PAc point of view. You don't even know or care that PAc's greatness is is being chipped away taking these types of fights. Then when PAc dominates, you say, "I never in my wildest dreams thought PAc would beat Cotto and Margarito let alone fight them" lol... FOOH with that lol...

Um, why? They happened enough times in the past, why are they suddenly going to stop now?
