Small crouching fighters like Brock and Sultan have actually proven the most troubling for Wlad. Brock slipped the jab and got to the body before being overwhelmed by the sheer accuracy and volume of punches Wlad kept measuring him with round after round. Though he never returned fire, Sultan's exaggerated crouching was very frustrating for Wlad. I wander if Sultan went to the body instead of head hunting, he might have found more openings like Brock did? Wlad will give up his body for extended periods to protect his chin, and he's great enough shape that he can take it, but a more punishing body puncher could have an effect on him.
not the biggest fan, but i pick rocky marciano to ktfo of wlad, peak tyson also wins by brutal knockout as does joe frazier....
people say wlad has the best heavweight jab of all time, but against which serious opposition has he exhibited this against... i think wlads jab is ****....just his sheer size and reach make his jab awkward, and the problem is most heavy's arent skilled or confident enough to try and work their way in, and when someone has done....e.g. sanders...he gets sparked out....i prefer vitali as a much greater fighter than wlad.... tyson and frazier, would have both knocked wlad into a coma:hi:
no one else think that a game Duran has a shot? The physical advantages are always with Wlad here so style is what you should be looking for and a rock solid chin with LHW power
Yeah, but the Wlad of today isn't really that active. He throws like 4 right hands in one fight and basically just jabs the whole fight. I think marciano can take a Wladimir jab. And, Since Wladimir doesn't throw ANY kind of uppercut, Rocky would crouch down low, and avoid the jab, then come inside, and dig the body. Wladimir doesn't like being roughed up on the inside. and Rocky would do exactly that. He would throw low blows and punch him on the arms and to the body-Wladimir would've succumb to the pressure eventually.
hands of stone would sleep wlad if he touched him. wlad is the most boring HW of all time. with a **** jab
And as he comes inside he'll be more open to the right/left hook, which would do some serious damage. Wlad may only jab in most of his fights but thats because his opponent is on the back foot, if they go on the front foot he has plenty more countering opportunities
If he comes inside, he'll smother Wlad, and work his midsection over. I don't see how Marciano would be open to the hook. Wlad seriously doesn't throw the left hook often in the first place, and he NEVER fights on the inside. He would just try to Tie Marciano up, which wouldn't work. I'm sure Marciano would avoid the jab, which is Wlad's best punch.
Marciano is pretty good at slipping and countering his way inside though, wlad is too one dimensional up close to escape without getting hurt significantly to the body. If he had a good uppercut like Lewis he would probably KTFO the rock, but I see Wlad getting his eggchin cracked by somebody like Marciano before he can put 'im away.
Brewster 6'2" with a 77" reach and 226Lbs. (he was 228 1/4 Lbs. for the rematch). Sanders 6'4" with a 77" reach and 225Lbs. (as pointed out, usually heavier). Puritty 6'3" with an 80" reach and 249Lbs. So, 6'2" with a 77" reach and 225Lbs. or so. Size ain't everything... Holyfield is 6'2 1/2" with a 77 1/2" reach and 215-220Lbs. these days, couldn't imagine him stopping W. or V. Klitschko. A prime Mike Tyson stands under 6' with a 71" reach and about 215-220Lbs. He'd have a good chance at stopping anybody.
well-analyzed, unbiased post. however, i will take manny steward's thoughts on the matter this time... and manny has been plenty critical of waldo's shortcomings. however, that jab is not one of them.
Louis would have destroyed him ... Langford and Marciano, pound for pound MUCH, MCH better fighters simply were too small ... Dempsey with his explosive style has a one in three shot ... Jack has a better shot against Vitali who would trade wih him .... Tyson destroys both brothers ..
