Alex Leapai vs Owen Beck

In the ranks at the moment there aren't to many Heavies moving gracefully with a huge gas tank, come to think of it, not many in the past iether.

Meehan and Chagaev moved about the ring like ships in the night.....fark, that was a boring fight.

Leapai walks straight through them and drops both of those guys on that form.

meehan looked like crap because he had hardly fought in the last 2 years. unless u r supremely gifted u cannot have a lead up like that against a recent world champ and expect to look too flash. he will be sharply improved after those 12 rounds under his belt.

even a rusty meehan would land every bomb he threw at leapai. leapai can't just let guys like meehan hit him at will and expect to stay on his feet.

but at this stage leapai is going along ok and will benefit from a few more opponents like his last two.

 

LOL u cant be serious,Chagaev would eat him up he's not up to the worlds stage,good local fighter but.....

 

He could definately do with a few more to polish up.....but lets get real.....he's a blockhead (no dis, just his style) who will always walk into punches....he may as well walk into punches from real contenders where he has a chance of making a big name for himself and pulling off an upset.
I cant imagine him being in the sport with all of his faculties past the age of 35 if he continues to get hit at the rate he is currently.

 

Yeah fair call but could probly start laying off that sloppy overhand right he seems to wanna throw every 3rd punch too....:good

 

He has a tested solid chin, explosive power and can destroy much larger more experienced opponents....plus he is ****ing exciting to watch!

 

Mate all of the above but these guys are a tad better than wat he's been putting away but spose thats all he can do is keep climbing the ladder..:thumbsup

 

Cant argue with you on that ando.....how exciting is it to have an active HW putting away all in front of him.
He has taken the next step, his crew should keep looking forward and put the feelers out for a showcase fight in the states.

 

is he the real deal or what lads? im a bxn fan, probably not as staunch as most on here but im a payperview for the big fights. is leapai good enough? can he make it? id luv nuthn more than follow an ozi hw to the top!! also duz he call himself an ozi or samoan or both? (no disrespect, im assuming both) time for another beer!

 

Looks like Alex is fast running out of quality opponents down under, i realise the man has family and it would be a wrench to be away from them but if Alex chose to come to the UK or Germany for instance i reckon he would reap the rewards of mixing it in the gyms everyday with seasoned heavies , Kali v Alex would be a brilliant test for Alex later on but a few fights with boarderline Commonwealth / European standard challengers here first (it's obvious he needs a level to bridge domestic honous at home and World class ).would make more sense , it would be a pity for him to be hidden away from the world down under . congratulations on the win .

 

Mate imo i dont reckon he's the "real deal" as in world quality maybe a good commonwealth/pacfic fighter, but thats my opinion which means jack **** but like i said before he can only beat wats being put in front of him and so far so good :?

 

You're right. Leapai will not get past Chagaev, as Leapai is not a juiced up steroid munching pig like the Russian counterparts. FACT!!!!!!!!!

 

Lot of positive things to take out of the fight for team Lionheart.

The main thing is he's getting better each fight now.....IMO he will be in his prime with another 6 or 7 fights like these....the rate hes going, that will be mid next year

We all know Alex isnt a texbook fighter and his team are not asking him to be....they have a plan that works for him.

Fact is if Alex lands one of his 6 or 8 punch combos on anybody in the division that could stop the fight....so if hes being outboxed as we saw a bit the other night and against Walker he has the patience to wait for the moment to throw the punishing combo.

Alex will keep getting better and lets hope aussie promoters like Jamie Myer and BOXA keep shelling out for the name fighters from the states :good

the reason leapai found it tough going was because he was in with a fighter who was far more accomplished than the oscar talemaira's he was fighting.

he did well but stop talking nonsense.

all of these type of fights will be teaching him something but will he take notice of it or not is the question. we will soon see.
