Leonard was probably the most intelligent boxer that's come about in my lifetime, though I was too small to see his early fights I was old enough to catch Leonard/Hagler. That being said, in Leonard Mayweather will find incredible speed, a great right hand, an amazing jab, some of the fastest combos I've ever seen, an ability to fight incredibly well off the ropes, and a deadly left hook. I think Leonard would outclass Mayweather, lock him up in his own style.

It would really come down to activity and size. Mayweather would be at a reach disadvantage, which means that he would have to work his way inside which is something he hasn't proven he is comfortable with, and Leonard would throw plenty of punches, easily enough to win rounds.

Mayweather wouldn't get hurt, but it remains to be seen if he would take enough risks to seriously try and win this fight. The same can't be said about Leonard who has faced serious adversity several times in his career, IE TOMMY HEARNS.

You'd have to be pretty blinded with hatred of Mayweather to call this a mismatch.

At worst Mayweather is the second best fighter of this generation. In my opinion he is the best.

I'd say it would be a split decision and Leonard wins 4 days a week and Mayweather the other 3.

    True:lol:

However in a p4p sense I have Sanchez beating Mayweather too. It's just the size difference. Sanchez would have to come up to meet Mayweather while Mayweather comes in bigger than agreed upong weight, pays millions in fees as investment, and has his fans defend him on ESB.

    Well alright.

Mayweather loses a wide UD at welter for a few reasons, size, speed(slower than Leonard at that weight), and offensive skillset for starters. It's hard to counterpunch a fighter that is faster with you and greater reach. he could try the infighting/walking down strategy we've seen with him, but that's not really his best modus operandi and we all know it.

PBF would lose to Duran at LW and WW too, easily, by knockout. Duran is like Castillo times four million, somewhat similar styles but a massive gulf in skill and ability. Offensively and defensively.

    Happy? :hey

Duran was a smart fighter too, and had excellent defense for the style he typically used.

Mayweather doesn't use a lot of movement at welter, which is what Leonard used to stay away from Duran.

If you remember, Hatton was able to close the distance relatively easily, especially in the beggining rounds, but he just didn't do any work when he got there.

Duran would put in work, and Mayweather would be forced to fight more.

cant argue, its a sound analysis. I still think Mayweather is a step above most fighters in history DEFENSIVELY! And I think that gives him the edge 9 times out of 10.

Honestly? I'd have Leonard beating Mayweather 9 times out of 10.

Mayweather has moved up to 147lbs, Leonard pretty much started off at 147lbs...

this generation (degeneration) doesn't even equal DLH/Tito/Mosley yet alone Leonard/Hearns/Duran

I agree it doesnt compare to Leonard Hearns and Duran but I think that pac/floyd and say Cotto would beat dlh tito and mosley if some kind of head to head was set up (with cotto being the obvious weak link).
