Where as Mosley was the guy that destroyed the man thta had Cotto cowering in the corner.

Pacquiao didn't have the ability to outbox Mosley when Shane wanted the fight like Cotto and Winky did, so he was going to have to go toe to toe with him and see who's chin gave up first.

It's a shame it didn't happen because it would have been a great fight but it was Roach who said no to this one, as he said "there's not enough money and you're too good".

well. it's 2010 now, and living in the past is nonsense. Marg isn't the same fighter he used to be.

If Margo is not his first choice, how is he cherrypicking?

    answer is no.

He's just going after the best of the willing that makes "business" sense.

as much as i hate this fight and cant understand why it has been made, as long as he returns to form and has a big fight next, when all things are considered, having margo as one of the weakest names on your 140 plus resume isnt too bad.

i juts hope the same people defending this fight are also understanding of floyd taking the baldomir fight over margo, because it made him more money. otherwise it shows bias.

    Apples and oranges my friend.

but you're right that extra dollar for facing Baldomir was one hell of an incentive:lol:

Pac could of fought Marquez again and made even more money then fighting Margarito, but Marquez despite the size difference between him and Margarito is more of a threat to Pac. Imagine if Marquez fought Pac a third time and beat him, after Floyd just dominated the Mexican with ease. How great would that make Pac look? It wouldn't make him look great at all, in fact it would just prove how much better Floyd really is to him.

If Pac went to 135 and just fought a top contender rather then Diaz, would that STILL be seen as cherry picking?

Margarito would **** up JMM. What you (and those wanting him to face JMM) need to know is JMM has not shown he can be effective over 135. Pac has. And also, there's no way you know if a fight vs/ JMM makes more money then vs,. Margarito. JMM, as good as he is, probably isn't any bigger then Margarito.

BTW...with what you say at the end, does that mean Pac is better since he beat Hatton and DLh WAAAAY easier then Floyd did? Terrible analogy.

The figures Goosen threw out were never really confirmed. Besides, from what they supposedly paid him, it was $1 more.

Different situations though, not even the same. Baldomir wasn't seen as a threat to Floyd by ANYONE. Despite you thinking Margarito is a totally easy win for Pac, that view is not shared as universally as it was with Floyd and Baldo. Baldo was a journeyman who got luck to face a head case like Zab. Zab and Baldo are two of the worst "linear" WW champs ever.

I Never said anything about Marquez fighting Margarito, I did say Marquez is more of threat to Pac based on there last two encounters and Marquez counter punching style. We all know the type of fighter Margarito is, his lack of defense leaves him wide open for the quicker hard hitting Pac. As far as which fight would generate more money, you can't tell me that Marquez fan base is not bigger then Margaritos. How many fans out there are already criticizing Pac vs Marg. Use this thread as an example " Is Pac cherry picking Marg?"

BTW.....The analogy is not as bad as you think. Both fighters fought mutual opponents, both won some fights easier then the other. If either one of them go back and face one of there mutual opponents and loose. It would lower there status, but elevate there rival above there own. Pac knows what he's getting in to when fighting Marquez, and even though he won just barely in both fights, it's to risky to do it again at this moment.

if he followed it up with a win against a world rated champion? would it balls. all im saying is 135 had names like juan diaz, marquez, casamayor, katsidis and he went and fought david diaz then moved up. he didnt stay around to clear the division out or fight meaningful fights. diaz was a decent win, but nothing special.

as for your baldomir comment, it wasnt universally recognised baldomir was no threat. there was pre-fight talk of floyd ducking baldmoir to fight judah, some considered baldomir to have too big a size advantage. plus baldomir was coming in to the fight on top form. i dont rate that win that high, but IMO a pac win over margo now, is comparable to a floyd win over baldomir then. to say baldomir is so **** he is in vernon forrests top 5 all time victories like i saya i dont rate that victory as out special, nor would i rate a pac victory over margo as out special.
