God knows, he certainly won't be fighting for huge sums of cash anytime soon and rightly so.

You're answering your own question. He's a slob who claims to have pride in what he does and in providing for his own but it's all empty talk. How many more times does he need to prove that before everyone stops scratching their heads?

There has undeniably been a decline in his performances. He always came to the ring looking like ****, and he was never going to be a World Champion whilst he continued doing that, but I completely disagree with you regarding his level of opposition last night. The old Arreola put enough behind his shots, and showed enough desire and aggression to get a half decent prospect like Chazz Witherspoon out there in double quick time. The fighter he fought on ESPN last night was no better than a Chazz Witherspoon.

The same Chazz Witherspoon that struggled life and death with shitty cruiserweight Adam "Swamp Donkey" Richards? The same Chazz Witherspoon that got completely schooled and destroyed by a 38 year old Tony Thompson? No, my friend. Arreola's DQ win over Witherspoon was a perfect example of an "exposure" - not a laudable win over a "decent prospect". Hell, I rate the Minto win over it.

Manny Quezada is clearly a C-level talent a best but he'd probably earn a decision over Spoon.

The stoppage loss to Arreola most likely sent Chazz on a downward spiral also, but the Arreola that clowned him would not have performed like he did last night. I find it most surprising that you're debating this. :huh He used to be fighting regularly on HBO and now he's fighting on Friday Night Fights? Why? Because he thinks it's catchier? No, because he was clearly slipping and last night only cemented that. You don't need to be a professional fighter to know that confidence is a factor in this game.

You're right, it's no mystery how he got where he is.

It's also no mystery why, though.

You're right - he had everything in the world to work his ass off for.

    Yet he did not.

It's no mystery at all. He's a lazy piece of **** who deep down cares more about his hedonistic urges than he does about his national pride or his family's well being. :good

It's almost unheard of for a lazy, fat slob to make it this far in a game as physically demanding as professional Boxing. It's so unusual and so illogical that it warrants a discussion.

He just doesn't want it bad enough. If he did he'd be in shape for his fights. It's as simple as that and I hate to say it, cause' I really like that 12-burrito-eatin' vato-loco. :sad2

Ive said this before about him.I like the guy and he is a good fighter but he is also lazy.He seems happy enough making money but falling short against the top guys.Id love for him to turn up in good shape for once so we can really see what he can do.I dont think its going to happen though.

    This far in the game?

His best wins are Walker, Quezada, completely shot McCline, Minto, and Witherspoon. That dubious coup-belt and a lopsided loss in an undeserved championship bid mean he came far in the sport?

Networks like HBO hyping up fighters beyond the merit of their ability for the sake of ratings is nothing unusual, or illogical, or warranting discussion. It happens all the time. Nobody seriously thinks Arreola should have ever been ranked as highly as he was heading into his title shot, even as bad as the division's been of late.

Name me 10 disgusting, fat, lazy slobs who didn't just get a title shot, but were widely considered to be the best American Heavyweight in the world at one time or another, and fought regularly on HBO? I'll wait.

Name me someone who isn't a complete schmuck who rated Arreola the #1 US HW over Chambers at any point. It's my turn to wait, then?

Oh, and undeniable fat lazy slob Tony Galento got a title shot after a dozen nothing-to-write-home-about KO wins. :hi:

So that's one fighter....who's last fight was in 1944? :good Compelling point you just made, IB.

I'll get straight to the point, I don't know the reasoning as to why you're being as pedantic and argumentative as you are but I can assure you it's unnecessary. In todays' Boxing climate, it's unusual for fighters to get to where Arreola has without some kind of work ethic. It's usual for fighters to even make it to prospect status without having some form of work ethic.

You seem begrudged that we're even having this discussion. Why is that, IB? :think

What people overlook is his physique won't look good even if he was 230 pounds, he just doesn't look good there. If his conditioning is trash he wouldn't have taken the shots he took from Vitali and kept going hard till his corner forced the stoppage.

He might not have great skills but he has heart, power and a chin. A fight with Sam Peter would be insane if you think about it. I would like to see him fight Haye too. He can still bring good fights despite his lack of skills and I enjoy watching him fight. Wish him the best really and would hate to see him KO'd against anyone, the guy is very friendly and has a good heart.
