Dawson lost it, Pascal didn't win it.

First of all credit to Pascal for fighting a good fight strategically, he ran and he flurried when he could. He didn't connect very often though.

Dawson was just not aggressive enough, yes Pascal was running alot but Dawson didn't cut off the ring, he showed no urgency. Dawsons jab was connecting all night but he rarely let the left hand go. He fought one-handed and let Pascal rush in without making him pay. As we saw in the rounds before it was stopped when Dawson showed some urgency and used both hands it was easy work for him.

I honestly don't know what Dawson was thinking, hopefully in the rematch he makes the simple adjustment of actually letting his hands go, tonight he fought stupidly. There's a time to stay on the outside and box but Chad needs to realise every opponent is different, Pascal was there to be taken with abit of aggression.

    Thats just how Dawson fights.

Hes so used to fighters chasing him he doesnt know what to do when he chases them.
Just a horrible style match up for Dawson.

Dawson could have used one those famous Manny Steward outbreaks in the corner, he just didn't do enough and ****ed up and got out-hustled by the hungrier Pascal.

What are you talking about? The punch stats showed Dawson landing more and at a higher percentage. Dawson lost because he was trying to be too comfortable in there, he was lazy and the crowd gets excited whenever Pascal moves towards Chad. Be honest, Pascal ran like a chicken, jumped in and slapped away at Dawsons arms and occasionally got through with a punch. Dawson needed to be dominant considering where he was fighting. I'll give you out thought.

The punch stats also showed Pascal throwing and landing more power punches.

I agree with the first post completely. Pascal was ok, but come on. Watch old Dawson fights. He just wasn't throwing punches until it was too late. Still the best light heavy.. you'll see. Pascal is gonna avoid this rematch like the plaque

Yeah I agree. It was frustrating to watch. Dawson recieved some of the worst corner advice I've ever heard. They essentially told him the opposite of what he needed to do. Following a fighter around with your hands up and not punching is not 'pressure'. He needed to take the initiative but also throw that left, as a straight and an uppercut, when Pascal rushed him. Against the advice of his trainers Dawson turned it on in the 11th and was on his way to blowing Pascal out of there. It was bad luck that the cut stopped it just as he had Pascal badly hurt but he only has himself and his corner to blame for being so passive and so reluctant to throw the left in the first half of the fight. Pascal fought well and deserved the win.
