I have to hold my hands up and admit I thought he was a live underdog at 5/2. I blame it on getting carried away because I was going to Vegas......
im the boxing man in my local and when they had the mitchell/katsisdis fight on some idiot was trying to explain to me how amir khan wouldve beaten muhammed ali!!!! half my pint got spat out!
Exact same thing happened to me, had one mate say to me after the fight was announced about this Valuev character, telling me about this giant unbeaten monster that Haye was fighting, called him the best in the world Can't blame him though, the last heavyweight fight he would have saw was Klitscko-Ibragimov which I told everyone would be a quality HW unification fight, nobody would think Wlad was the best if they had saw that one fight :yep
Try going to the average pub and talk about football. The amount of know nothing blowhards would amaze you, most people know **** all about **** all the simple fact that we post here means we have a real interest in the sport ie we are special
There was this idiot who once was so sure Tyson would lose to the Bomber in their rematch he put £50 on Frank. The same idiot once picked Lacy over Calzaghe, McClellan over Benn and Neary over Ward! Oh wait, I remember his name now: TBoo...
Not really an argument. But I pulled this bint last week. She realized I was into boxing seeing my desktop on my computer. And she asked me if boxing was REAL. atsch
Wilkinson was probably the 3rd best player in that England side, behind Richard Hill and Jason Robinson. Johnson 4th.
Aaaah, you're from the other end of the spectrum. You know something about a sport so you have to make a perverse and fallacious argument to 'prove' your knowledge. Like a boxing fan claiming that Ricky Hatton actually had an incredibly under-rated defence. Or something.
We were discussing old Leeds players and someone said that Harry Kewell was better than Gary Speed because he was faster and a better header of the ball atsch
I was made up when Liverpool signed Kewel but most Leeds fans I spoke to were just gutted they didn't get a fair price for him. They thought he was injury prone and a "highlights reel" player that wasn't consistent enough. They were right!!
I wouldn't have been that scathing toward him at the time.... usually it's me telling everyone how **** players are and either looking like a mug or a genius - usually a genius when it comes to Leeds players because they turn **** when they come here :yep I'd guess Liverpool fans felt he'd be the last piece in the jigsaw :think
We've had a few of them over the last 15 years or so!! Paul Ince Jari Litmanen (amazing player, criminally underused at Liverpool) Harry Kewel.....
What happened to Westerveld? I remember him being really good, then making one mistake and sent packing :-( To be replaced by Chris ''I've broke a fingernail and need a year off'' Kirkland!!
