If it wasn't for Kessler and Lacy packing their own belts and having SERIOUS intentions to unify then he wouldn't even have unified there so please save that ***** **** for yourself or to newbies. If that guy had any intention to unify he would have done so early like RJJ did at light heavy, Hopkins at middle and so on. That's how you dominate a division, you don't dominate it fighting and getting knocked down against guys like Kebabi Salem and Tocker Pudwell after winning a paper title fighting an old past it Eubank. His start was fighting a past it fighter for a paper title and his end was fighting past it beyond shot fighters, it doesn't take brains to see that. If he wanted to unify he would have gone after these guys, not wait for them to call him out and fly to fight him for his paper belt. Like he was a champion they were too, right?, did he show any of that serious desire?, **** no he didn't. To dominate a division YOU GO and unify and EARLY, he didn't exactly do that till other random new comers won belts and decided to fight him. His biggest wins worth mentioning with a straight face: Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins. You CAN'T mention other fights with a straight face even if you tried to. Even a pig would be ashamed to do it if he wanted a laugh and followed this guy's career.
Tell me all of dawsons wins that you can say with a straight faced because you certainly cant count johnson or tarver, so we have Adamek and erm err....
while eubank was past his best...he wasnt done, he went the distance with thompson (who went on to beat Haye), losing by a single point on 2 judges cards and yes, calzaghe ****ed around, the point is at the end of his career, he was 4th or 3rd after all he achieved, why is Dawson there already (or was)?
Yes I will count Tarver and Johnson. The first Johnson fight was tough and people demanded a rematch so they got it. Tarver fights were necessary too, the rematch not so much but he had no other option. Harding is also another decent win and Adamek obviously the best. Fact is Dawson is 28 years old in a bad situation where his division is lacking and he can't move up either because it's lacking up there too yet his record actually compete with Calzaghe's and he has a LONG way to go. Calzaghe had many options at middle if he wanted to move down or light heavy if he wanted to move up. Sadly Jones Jr. wasn't exactly beyond shot to make that fight back then, huh?. Remember his "Too much risk, no reward!" comment?
dawsons victory against Adamek was fantastic especially in hindsight. He had the respect to acknowledge Calzaghes age and decision to retire. So maybe Calzaghe fans should stop hating him for having the audacity to want to fight joe. Hes a good boxer Dawson with question marks over his heart he will be back but to what extent
Styles make fights. I respect Froch because he fights hard, and wants to fight the best, but I don't respect him more because Pascal beat Dawson. I don't believe that boxing has a transitive property.
I admit I was thinking he was a decent name. But since the Froch fight, Pascal is not the same, he has improved. He had a very good strategy based on Dawson`s lazyness, but this strategy will fail 9 out of 10 with a slick, skilled, fast southpaw like Dawson is.
Fantastic quote. This fooling the public with Showtime, The Ring magazine and HBO is worse than I imagined, some people actually believe that all the fighters in the Super 6 are all top 15 P4P fighters (some are, but not all). You have a guy like Dirrell who admittedly has potential but was floored by a journeyman, beaten by Froch and his biggest win is against a small former MW champ whos big win was who? Green who hasnt beaten anyone of note and lost to Miranda. Abraham who has no real SMW resume and whos big win is probably Miranda (a gatekeeper at best). Still if the public are fooled then TV has done its job. I just didnt realise people were so gullable
froch will be laughing knowing it makes his win look even better and he'll be happy for his mate pascal.
Eubank was done at that stage and everyone knows it. He was coming off a loss to Collins, had two meaningless exhibition-like fights overseas, fought Calzaghe lost, then lost twice to Thompson and retired. Anyone with eyes would tell you that Thompson is a journeyman at best. Dawson was there because he at least wanted to make fights and was going for them the best he could, he could have fought unknowns in his hometown for over 20 defenses too but didn't. Didn't he pack his belt and travel to make the fight with Pascal in his hometown?. That's what a true P4P fighter does. Another point you are missing. Calzaghe's last fight saw him drop from P4P#2 to #3. That pretty much explains what that guy was about.
A rematch of last nights fight will happen, and Dawson will win it...a rubber match will then take place and Dawson will win that. Chad Dawson will redeem himself from a subpar performance last night...bet on it. And by the way, Froch is ok, but he'd nevewr be able to beat Dawson. Last night's fight was an abberation..Dawson will be back on top again.
