Still buzzing from Pascal's win last night. But now to more pressing issues. Can anyone convince me that Paul Williams should be in my p4p top 20, let alone p4p top 10. What (is he doing there)? Why is he there? I think I can answer that one because he is a complete hypejob. He lost to Martinez, was losing to Cintron and will lose to Martinez again. How is he there? Quantify it to me and convince me. :bbb
Nobody can convince me then? Guess its settled he shouldn't even be p4p top 20. Hes soo ordinary its unreal. If he didnt look and fight like a constipated octopus on speed he wouldn't get any attention.
Paul Williams is the most ovverrated fighter in the history of this sport. This guy is Wlads size and what???He even cannot use his size advantage properly. He's got no skill only size .Maravilla is way way more skiled Williams in terms of p4p lists which should take into considaration skills technique etc, but no size, is way way lower then top 10
Bump! I want explanations especially considering the majority are still putting him high in their p4p lists on the new p4p thread.
Well the Martinez fight was very close. Even though you feel Martinez won, Paul got the decision and came away with the win. Even if he lost on the decision, his par performance level in the fight with Martinez would suggest he should be of synonymous world rankings (p4p list). Didn't bother watching the Cintron fight, I don't think anyone should infer anything at all from that farce. Personally, I'm not a fanboy and don't think he's anything too special but I wouldn't start throwing much overused terms around just yet. Wait and see how he performs next, he's not found himself in his position by being bad, that's just impossible. Guys got a few question marks around him, that's all...
Quantify it to me and convince me. :bbb[/quote] Quantification: 1. Record 39-1 (27ko) 2. Defeated; 3 lb. for lb. top 10 fighters; Wright, Margarito, Martinez (Martinez, Margo. controversial, yet hand raised at end of fight.) 3. Held titles; welterweight 3 years, jr. middleweight 3 months 4. Being ducked; the two best fighters in his division, who also happen to be two best fighters in the world want no part of him. Other titleholders, Berto, Mosley have also turned down fights. 5. Revenge!; avenged only loss with 1st round KO. 6. Excitement; always gives the fans a good brawl. 7. Willingness; one victory over good middleweight journeyman (kolle) plans to fight established middlewight star (Pavlik) scrapped twice by injury. For the most part I think PW is overrated as well, when he came up people said that he was the next Thomas Hearns, and he would not have lasted 3 rounds with the hitman, but to say that he is not one of the 20 best fighters in the world is ludicrous.
A guy called C. Quintana gave him a comprehensive boxing lesson for a whole 12 rds., what else can I say.........
Still not cinvced. The fightes were not p4p at the time. Revenge means nothing. I dont really find him exciting as I know exactly what he is gonna do every fight. Who ducked him? Who cares if Berto pulled out - Berto is a massive hypejob. He never held an official 154 title. Also I could easily name you 20 more deserving. He doesn't seem as willing as he likes to say to me.
I wasn't shocked at all about Dawson. I knew he didn't belong on the p4p list. Pwill belongs in the lower p4p list just based off the fact that he has fought top competition and they have all been close fights. Nobody has dominated him yet.
I can't really say most overated ever. I thing he's very good boxer. I also think he's a victim of the sport. He's beaten everybody he's faced. In 07 he was hot but then was black balled in a way. So he got hyped for a bit but still hasn't landed as big a fight as he would like. He fought Martinez before Martinez beat pavlik. Pavlik had doubts about fighting him. He beat Margarito before the Cotto fight. So he should get some credit. I don't know how you could truly layout a p4p any # and not have questions.
