Jones would win easily far too talented for Dawson. But in saying that back then Jones would have never risked fighting a young gun like Dawson
That uppercut Dawson gave pascal in 11th would of cracked rjj cheen and put him deep on the ***** street with no taxi.... Otherwise RJJ would abuse clown Dawson.
Jones would be way to fast for Dawson to handle, the way Pascal was jumping in and scoring Roy would do the same but with a knock out as the result.. Dawson would have a tough time laying a glove on Jones.. Jones ko5!!
Prime RJJ when he was at 168 and his early days at 175 like when he crushed Virgil Hill and Reggie Johnson beats pretty much anybody in the History of the sport at those weights.... I know people talk a lot about Bob Foster and how hard he hit, but I don't think he would have landed anything of consequence on Jones. Prime RJJ slaughters Dawson, Pascal, Tarver, Johnson, Calzaghe, Cloud or any other other top Lt. Heavy that has come around the last few years...and that includes the 175lb. version of Hopkins. There's a reason Hopkins won't fight young quick guys like Dawson and Pascal cause he knows he'll lose a decision...all his losses save his first loss as a pro came from younger guys with superior handspeed (RJJ, Taylor, Calzaghe). Some of you guys need to go back and watch tape of a young RJJ and see how special the guy was in his prime....y'all must'a forgot!
Was Jones considered a big puncher as a Light heavyweight? (I don't recall, His fights just didn't interest me as much to remember even tho I seen 90% of them)
Not as clear cut as it looks. Roy would have to be off the ripped fuel. Jones was more of a jump into and out of range fighter so it wouldnt be all one way traffic. But I would expect Jones to win clearly, but they would both lose to fighters like Calzaghe, Erdei, Michalczewski at LHW
Haha any Jones pre coming down from heavy would give chad a bad loss! Jean Pascal just beat Chad, yeah I like Jean as a warrior but if you are going to say prime jones then i say 168 Jones leaves Dawson a bloody mess on the floor not knowing what day of the week it is.
