This myth is false.Theres always comments being made about how Calzaghe would get destroyed by a prime Jones and i dont know why some people think that.Roy Jones was given trouble by Montell Griffin in his prime so why couldnt Calzaghe give him trouble?Jones also went the distance with fighters that werent as good as calzaghe.Calzaghe was a great boxer in his own right and while i still think Jones would win by ud it would be a very close competitive fight.

Ali struggled with Jones! Ali was taken the distance by bums! Imagine what Liston would do!

Slappy's porous defence and face-first swarming tactics would get him KO'd.

Joe's only chance would be to go for the ko against Jones and I wouldn't doubt him probably even dropping Jones, but I doubt it. Jones had the best footwork of any fighter and by the time Joe would through one punch, Roy would of caught him midway, like Pacquiao did with Hatton. It would look exactly like that fight.

Suck's they avoided each other when it really would have counted.
That said, Calzaghe won the watered down version...

All we can really go of off, IMO as oppossed to "IF".

a 40 year old RJJ dropped Calzaghe. I can't even begin to think how he would murder him if he were in his prime. That is not to say Calslappy is a terrible fighter or worthless. He's a very good fighter and a loss to RJ is hardly something to put you down about.

this Slappy stuff is getting tiring.

if he slapped then he did it very hard, just ask the likes of Lacy!

Yeah, ask Lacy, the man he didn't stop despite landing hundreds and hundreds of clean punches on. Ask him :patsch

Fail#1: Jones didn't skip supermiddleweight. He beat p4p#2 James Toney there to take the IBF world title, and stayed there for another 2 years :patsch

Fail#2: Jones had already moved up to lightheavy before Joe even fought for a world title. :patsch

Pretty good going there dude, 2 complete failures in such a short post :good

Nah. The 'myth' is well-founded. Jones would have utterly destroyed Calzaghe.

He would get outclassed and probably KO'd.

If Tyson never fought Douglas and this fight was suggested you would all say the same thing "He gets KTFO" "Not a chance"

A Joe without the hand problem would stand a better chance + with his handspeed it would probably b @ least competive.

Yeah, Joe's handspeed would really help him vs a guy with faster feet and faster hands.
