Pascal beat Dawson yesterday but for some reason, i wasn't impressed by his performance. He lunges in exposed and he got away with it because Dawson isn't a very good counter puncher. Plus, his hand speed is unreal so i guess he gets away with it. He's a great fighter but i think a very savvy counter puncher can beat him. But i don't think such a fighter exists at LHW right now. Hopkins is a bit too old for Pascal IMO.

Given his resume, I think he is the real deal. That said, it'd probably depend on the definition of "real deal". I'd view any legit world-class fighter who's on an ABC belt level as that since a win over them would look good on any resume. Someone who you can't leave out of a top 3 or top 5 list of top fighters at the weight if you tried (not accounting for deeper weight classes).

Now that he's the Ring champ and coming off a win over an unbeaten P4P ranked fighter after beating Diaconu twice and a competitive fight vs Froch in his first big step up, it's safe to say he's legit.

How long he'll reign is yet to be seen, but Pascal's success is no fluke. World-class speed and toughness has made up for subpar conditioning in this instance.

ye i do agree it is safe to say he has now established himself. when i first made this thread not everyone was convinced as i was. the thing that got me the most was pre-froch he showed pretty good skills, in the froch fight he showed good heart and great determination, since then he has managed to combine the two and has become a very good fighter, and the number 1 in his weighclass.

solid, exciting fighter and i liked the hunger he showed last night. deserves the win 100%... I don't think he will beat cloud based on styles but i'm willing to see him try or take on Dawson again!

Regardless what people think or say Pascal is the man @ 175lbs for the moment.
So the answer is YES, real deal.

you know what, i believe johnson was able to hurt cloud a couple of times, and for someone with pretty much zero pop left, that aint a good sign. im not saying i tink pascal would kayo him, but i think he has the power to earn clouds respect.

but with the workrate they show, it should be a classic.

Dawson lost this fight more than Pascal winning it. Dawson had many chances to end the fight, many chances to fight inside. But for some reason, which i thought it was a bad shoulder, he stood there looking at Pascal long enough for Pascal to seize the moment and do something - anything, which was more than dawson was doing. Pascal looked better in his last fight, but this fight he was so close to being knocked out. Funny how boxing is because I gave Cloud no chance against Dawson. But it seems like Cloud would have definitely taken out Pascal had he had him hurt like Dawson did.
Pascal winning is good for boxing. Dawson can manup and hopefully learn from letting that one get away. He will likely be like paul williams and return with a purpose - hopefully. Also, now it sets up for a big Canadian battle between two popular Canadian fighters. I'd almost like to see Cloud get the winner of that one (Bute/Pascal) and then have Dawson come back into the picture...

He's the real deal, he showed me some great skills. On paper Dawson looked like the superior fighter, but in the ring that wasn't the case. That's why we need the top fighters in each division to fight each other.

post fight he said he had no shoulder issues, he said he stopped after attacks cos "that is his game" and he said he lost because pascal was butting him all night.

yes dawson did have the edge at times, and if he had stepped up the gas he could have had pascal in trouble, but you seem to ignore that pascal had dawson hurt on a number of occassions also.

Disagreed on Glen's pop, I was at the fight bro and you could hear the effectiveness of his punches. the guy can hit, and he can take a hit. Pascal could clock him a good one, but I also think Cloud can clock pascal a HUGE one.

it would be a pretty sweet fight though. I dunno if cloud is ready for pascal yet though, i'd like to see him and Shumenov or Uzelkov next
