lmao... Yes, yes, an overly cocky Quintana carelessly getting caught and doing a deplorable job of protecting himself once hurt changes everything. It's like Williams never got schooled for 12 full rounds.
I won. You say it like more people thought Williams won. You saw the scorecards. The really wide one only indicates to a backhander by HBO or something. :hi:
I thought we were arguing about your 3 fight 'justification' aswell. Changing the goalposts to suit your pathetic arguement thats carries far less weight than mine are we? :hi:
Williams won against Martinez on my card and on the official judge's cards. Martinez should have won against Cintron so i'll give him that one as a win. Williams schooled Winky, no questions asked. Martinez beat Pavlik, no questions asked. Williams-Cintron fight I haven't seen, but it should have been a no-contest anyway because it ended before the 4th round. Williams-2 wins, 1 no-contest Martinez-2 wins, 1 loss Williams
Bull****. Such a pathetic arguement. But I'll resume this when I can be bothered. I'm going to bed. :hi:
Williams took fight with Martinez because he knew that Martinez did not have time to train, yet Martinez beat the crap out of Williams. He knocked Williams' head back over and over and over again! Williams was getting beaten by Cintron. Williams lost to Quintana. Margarito beat Williams into a bloody mess. Williams gives no rematches, but when his judges are not there for him he will get a rematch.
I dont know how anyone can really sit here and say paul williams isn't at least a legitimate pound for pound candidate. without that off night against quintana, the man would have a high undefeated record. I know that means very little, but it at least speaks to his skills.aside from handling still cagey vets in winky wright and verno phillips, he beat antonio margarito before the hand wraps incident or loss to mosley, when margarito was a feared fighter, and he beat sergio martinez, and no matter how close you thought it was, I personally think it's absurd to say he was in fact, thoroughly beaten by martinez, just like it's tough to say the opposite. you couldn't have been watching the fight if you've come to either conclusion, simply put. those are pretty good cherries on an already solid record, not to mention he's done all this while doing something few fighters have done in the modern era, jumping back and forth between three different weight categories and picking up titles in the process. I take it you forum members are a tough crowd eh?:think
Real winners don't need to declare themselves the winner... Just saying... As far as this topic is concerned I am split. I thought that Williams edged out a close decision against Martinez. However, I did have Cintron ahead before the incident occurred in his match with Williams... I find Paul Williams to be a solid talent who has a good resume. I would rank Paul Williams in my top 20, I am not so sure he would make my top 10. That being said, I find it really hard to believe that someone could rank Martinez on their top 10 and not rank Paul Williams in their top 20... Even if you feel that Martinez won their fight, you have to admit it was close. I would say they are both on par with each other.
I saw Martinez knock Williams' head back over and over and over again and Martinez did not even have time to train. Cintron was too strong for Williams. Williams does not believe in rematches unless his judges do not save him.
