Yesterday I had a chance to talk to Ed Kahut, a former boxer also from way back when and also the brother of "Joltin" Joe Kahut, A LH and Heavyweight contender from the olden days.My brother is visiting Oregon with his girlfriend and her mom and it turns out that her mom was good friends with Ed's daughter so my brother(also a big boxing fan) visited him and gave me basically a live phone feed haha.Ed showed my brother a bunch of photo's of him with classic fighters such as Marciano and Archie moore, and talked some boxing with him. When I talked with Ed over the phone I asked him about some fantasy fights (talked about on here currently) and some more questions. Here are the questions I asked and the answers from Ed a fighter from back then and a person who also had the opportunity to see them fight back then.

1.As a middleweight fighter who do you believe was the greatest middleweight of all time???........Sugar Ray Robinson,he also mentioned that Hagler was a REALLY good fighter who could beat any middle on any occasion.

2.Your brother Joe fought Ezzard Charles, and Joey Maxim both really good boxers and ATG'S could you sum up there statistics from when you seen them live???....Ezzard was the better boxer, puncher, and mostly all other areas but I feel Joey fought smarter.

3.Who do you see winning in a fight between Marciano and Dempsey???.....Marciano

4.How about a prime Louis vs a prime Dempsey???....I would probably favor Louis in this one,Dempsey was Great but IMO Louis is the greatest HW of all time.

He talked to me as well about some more fighters like Basilio,Moore and others. Before I got off the phone I thanked him for answering what
questions I did ask(I didn't wanna keep him on the phone to long) and he was very nice and said it was nice talking to an old fight fan,as a young man of 19 it was cool talking to an actual fighter from back then who seen his brother fight some of the best of our sport,he was a good fighter to.I will have some pics to upload when my brother gets back.He also gave my brother a BHOF hat dedicated to Joey Maxim actually signed by Maxim,he was a very nice guy.

Thanks for the post!...He certainly would be included in a list of all time Northwest boxers.
Interestingly (and for wat its worth) here is a list that I found on another forum of all time Northwest heavyweight rankings:

    1. Boone Kirkman
    2. Pat McMurtry
    3. Joe Hipp
    4. Thad Spencer
    5. Kenny Keene
    6. Harry "Kid" Matthews
    7. Pete Rademacher
    8. Gordie Racette
    9. Ibar Arrington
    10. George Logan
    11. Pat Duncan
    12. Terry Hinke
    13. Joe Kahut
