The next time you'll completely dismiss another fighters chances

Despite Boxing history constantly reminding us that at the highest level anything can happen, we still like to completely dismiss a fighters chances at victory. Then, sure enough, when the unthinkable happens, we see loads of threads by the same folk entitled, "Hype Job!", "We should have seen it coming".

Just curious. For you personally, when will be the next time you completely dismiss a fighters chance at victory at this level?

 

Froch vs. Abraham. No need for an extended break from making calls. If Dawson gets the rematch anywhere but Montreal I'll still give Dawson an 80% + chance to win. If it's in Montreal it still closer to a pick em considering the Dr., Ref, and everyone else associated with fights there seem to bet on the bouts. I admittedly underrated Pascal. If that is the only thing I get wrong this month I'll be fine.

Samuel Peter, he has no chance of winning this time.
Klitschko will just be sticking his jab into Peters face for 12 rounds.

It happens all the time, Timeout. I don't understand it. I acknowledged that Dawson should go in as the favorite considering who he has beaten and how good he had been looking, but Pascal was WBC Light Heavyweight Champion. How could I completely dismiss his chances altogether?

 

It's true that fights aren't fought on paper, so anything can happen. However, there are a few fights coming up that I believe are "can't miss" predictions. Wladimir should beat Peter. Cotto should beat Jr. Abraham should beat Croch. We'll see

 

Anyone that completely dismissed Pascal's chances in this one was absolutely mad.

Dawson was entitled to be favourite, but the odds were ridiculous - 1/4, 2/7 etc.

I'm quite a regular better on boxing anyway, but it would have been rude not to put £100 on Pascal with the value available.

It seems (well, it's fact) that he was getting far too much praise for his achievements to date, and too much stock was placed into the Froch fight.

In a rematch I expect the bookies to be pretty much split on the outcome.

Wlad vs Peter is a different kettle of fish altogether - Wlad has improved greatly and is in his prime, Peter is still the same fat, limited slugger he always was. I'd like to see Wlad really assert himself in this one to try and get Peter out early, make a statement.

I felt Chambers had an almost 0 chance of beating Wladimir, even less of a chance than Sosnowski had against Vitali. On the other hand, although Chambers beat him handily, Sam Peter does have a (very slim) chance to beat Wlad
