Sad days when a Foreman who used to make jokes about eating burgers and being fat himself - looks in his mid 40's - to be in as good a shape as most current heavyweights now that are supposedly in their prime. (Yeah, I know he's hiding his gut with his belt and sucking it in, but he does...). I saw Foreman v Holy the other night on a replay. I was stunned at how NOT fat Foreman appeared to be after watching some recent fights and fighters.
Yeah I could see Louis as 2nd, if Tyson, Frazier, Sonny Liston, George Foreman and about 5 other heavyweights had never existed. imo: Ali Liston Tyson Foreman and from there you can argue all you want between Lewis, the Klits, Holmes, Frazier etc. The only shocker I would throw in is that I think Ike would have been a top 10 ATG HW if he hadn't lost his mind. Louis was a propped up champ who feasted on weak competition (bum of the month club) for patriotic reasons during the war. He got KTFO by Max Schmeling, ffs, who wouldn't win a round against any of the other guys I mentioned.
atsch:roll::bart Up until you it was only noobs mentioning Tyson. Tyson for me didn't beat anyone worth a toss in his so called prime to be anywhere near the top 5 atg HW's. As for the assumption that a "PRIME" Tyson beats everybody..... i'm still no where near sold on that. I loved watching the guy fight and he has one of the best knockout reels in history, but to say he beats a prime Ali, Foreman, Louis, Lewis is being sucked in by the hype train of him bowling over stiffs.... don't wash with me. For what it's worth as ATG status goes by accomplishment my No3 would have to be Lennox Lewis
i dont understand why some of you have liston and frazier in the top five. who did liston beat apart from patterson, how many defenses did he make? you cant just rate him because he lost to a young clay wtf
What makes me laugh is Bernie put Tyson at No3 and then goes on to say Louis shouldn't be in the list because he feasted on weak opposition????? it's almost funny
I think a toss up between Holmes & Foreman. Foreman: WinsNorton KO, Frazier KO x2, Lyle KO, Muhammad Qwai KO, Cooney KO, Moorer KO Losses: Ali KO, Young UD, Holyfield UD, Morrison UD, Briggs MD Holmes: Wins:Shavers UD & KO, Norton SD, Ali KO, Berbick UD, L. Spinks KO, Cooney KO, Witherspoon SD, Williams UD, Mercer UD Losses: Tyson KO, Spinks UD & SD, Holyfield UD, McCall UD, Nielsen SD Foreman has the more impressive record.. but head to head I think Holmes boxes his way to a wide UD vs Foreman
