    OH. MY. GOD

You have to be kidding? Can you not distinguish between the term being used in the literal or metaphorical sense? Obvioulsy Hurricane Katrina didn't knocked him on his ****ing arse!

You have to be on the wind up

Exactly. So what are you struggling with. Didnt I say its usage wasnt meant to be taken literally in its base form. And why do you talk like you probably sound?

Why would you apply it to a situation where it could also apply in the literal sense? It is a ridiculous idea

So by ur logic, Dawson got floored 3 times in that fight and pascal once?
That's a lot of flooring going on.

and he almighty MichiganWarrior has been quoted to say

so eeryone look back over histories fights and re-score accordingly. pascal and dawson both floored each other a number of times.

corley and mayweather also flored each other in their fight.

kessler and froch floored each other every round.

get out ya calculators and include those 10-8's and lets see how history will now be re-written.

You are missing the key point, which is

    tr.v. floored, floor·ing, floors
    1. To provide with a floor.
    2. Informal To press (the accelerator of a motor vehicle) to the floor.
    3. a. To knock down.
    b. To stun; overwhelm:

MichiganWarrior was certain only "brits and limeys" would vote for floored = floored.

apparently now his countrymen also disagree with him.

Here's an extract of michiganwarrior commenting on a fight between Herns vs hagler.
"it's the 1st rd of this Amazing matchup. Herbs using his jab and omfg big right from hagler floors herns. But herns stays up and floors hagler. But hagler is still up and floors hearns! Herns now comes back having been floored by hagler and floors herns instead. This is a great fight and best flooring ever! Omfg a flooring right opens a cut on hagler head."

    End thread really?

I've been watching boxing my whole life and never heard the term floored used to mean anything other than going down.

Come on Michigan. You must see the majority point of view here. Say, you were listening to a fight, on the radio, and suddenly the commentator shouts out "oh my god, great left hook as fighter a 'floors' fighter b". Would you seriously be wondering whether fighter b had actually hit the canvas or whether he was just stunned and holding on? I think 99% of people would instantly think that fighter b was actually, at some point, on the floor.

I think everyone understands that the term "floored" can mean stunned. However, if you start using that term in a sport where an opponent can literally be floored.........well, thats where the confusion comes in.
