anyone who thinks it is an easy fight to score, does not know boxing imo. there where so many swing rounds it is ridiculous to be so pig headed in your viewpoint. i picked pascal because i believed he would win, wow crazy idea that. i get some wrong i get some right, i dont try making excuses unlike you. i picked froch to beat kessler, he didnt, i picked paulie to beat khan, he didnt, i picked hatton to beat pacman he didnt, if i was old enough i sure as hell would have picked tyson to beat douglas also. i got no problem accpeting im wrong some times. im a 22 year old maths teacher, it aint my job to pcik who wins a fight, nor is it my job to score a fight, so if i get it wrong it is no big deal, if you get it wrong it seems everyone else is wrong. if you will insist on saying things like "pascal got floored many times in that fight" then go ahead, but as i have shown with my thread, you are being an idiot.
this is the funniest schooling in a loooong time, this resembles the times when a poster called imbruman or something like that, totally outclassed another poster. michigan warrior, sorry, but damn you are losing
And it seems after this fight, Calzaghe was spot on to view Chad as no challenge to him. As for the thread title... I like Froch for his desire to fight anyone and for the fact that he's been in entertaining fights, but i'm not his biggest fan. I dont like his style and think that there are a number of boxers around that could beat Froch. However, this result certainly adds more credibility to Froch's record. Dawson was being touted as P4P material. Whether that was right or wrong, this result helps Froch more than it hinders him. For me, I dont read that much into it because while I rated Dawson as a good fighter, i've never seen him as a potential 'great'. But, Froch is the master of his own destiny at the moment. Being involved in the super six basically gives him the chance to carve our a legacy on the back of that alone.
hell yeah, if he, dare i say it, wins the super 6 and rematches kessler along the way, many will rank him as one of the best smw's of all time. considering the smw resumes of thos who have fought there in the past.
It's a fair shout and taking into account that the SMW division is a relatively new division then whoever wins the super six will be on a short list of the greatest ever SMW's. I think if the winner of the super six either comes through undefeated or rematches those that beat them and then beats Bute then I'd struggle to pick a SMW with a better record.
ye i mean, talentwise you know its hard to look past rjj, but he didnt fight tere that long. calzaghe probably has the best smw resume, well i cant think of any with a better one. and it isnt hugelt strong itself, a run of consecutive elite names will top the list for me. like say if dirrell wins it and rematches froch, or froch wins and rematches kessler, or aa wins and rematches dirrell. it is an exciting tourney
Who told you that I personally thought Dawson belonged up there?, find me a single post where my list has him up there. Don't respond like I am the one responsible for having him up there please. The real question is, would Calzaghe have signed for this tournament if this happened back when he was in his prime?. The obvious answer is a big fat NO, because traveling would be an issue, remember?, and it's only not an issue if this is a tournament involving these fighters as shot as they appear TODAY "Tarver, Glen Johnson, Roy Jones, Hopkins, Chris Byrd and Manfredo Jr.". Then Calzaghe would sign instantly and would be the pilot driving his self from Wales to America to attend his fights without any flying sickness nothing. Right?
The problem with Calzaghe's career should be blamed on Frank Warren. You could say the same for Witter, Hatton and quite a few other fighters he's had. There is quite a long list of fighters who threatened to leave, if they didn't get fights, Calzaghe included. I wasn't a fan of his but I know the blame shouldn't be aimed at him. Being picky, Ward won't fight abroad either and will possibly fight all three bouts in his hometown, so you could say the same for Calzaghe. I do think he'd be in it though.
It's not Warren's fault. Have any of you seen the documentary "No Average Joe"?. I don't blame anyone for not seeing or for it not being uploaded on YouTube, no one knows who the hell is Calzaghe anyway and the up-loader doesn't want 6 parts of a video being viewed 10 times each. It wasn't only Warren's fault, Calzaghe got many offers he turned down because of his own demands and also because of him postponing fights because of his right hand. You can clearly see HIM, Warren, Benn, Eubank, Rob Borges and MANY others in the documentary commenting and talking about stuff that happened. Hatton got good fights with Warren, he was built up well with him all the way to the Tszyu fight. Look at the attention and love Hatton got, no one gives or gave a damn about Calzaghe all the way to his retirement.
he just cant admit when hes beaten. it aint a hard thing to do, he called it wrong and as such was wrong.
ROFL!! Have you ever heard anything like that before. Floored as a boxing term means knocked over and your gloves coming into contact with the canvas and being given a count!! (ie) you are on the floor If a fighter lands a great shot and almost knocks the guy over, he nearly "floored" him!!
