He was trying to get a point deducted from Pascal, I think. Good as a KD from his perspective.

BTW I think the ref was VERY FAIR in that fight. He warned Pascal several times, once right from the beginning. And even when Dawson was stringing together a series of low blows he only gave him a little warning.

The headbutt was clearly accidental and that cut was a pretty nasty gash above the eye and the blood was bursting from it. I would have liked it to continue but ALOT of refs would've stopped the fight on a similar cut.

The ref was as fair as they come. Maybe Dawson is just used to having the ref as a 4th member of his team but that's not the way it should be!

So all in all, great performance by the ref who also handled the clinches very well and very quickly.

I agree ..The Chad that showed up against Pascal looked like the one that showed up against Glen Johnson in the first fight ..Taking rds off in the rematch I see him being more active in the remacth pressing the action more ..

    I agree.
In the rematch Dawson will do what he shoulda and coulda done in this fight.
Dawson is a much better fighter than Pascal but for some reason he was off his game that night.

I dont think its impossible that Chad wins the rematch.

My critisicms of Dawson were as followed

For a guy who didnt wanna leave it up to the judges and pre fight waas on a campaign against so called canadian corruption really didnt try and win rounds convincing enough to leave no doubt in the judges mind he won those rounds.

His defense was terrible basically consisted of him leaping back with his hands in the air like an idiot.

He had no answer for the left hook and almost every right hand clean hurt him bad

for all the arguing his corner did about the end he really deserved to lose for waiting til the 12th to win

the cut was fair and square and the right guy won

Dawson had him hurt in the 9th didnt finish him

had him hurt in the 11th and let him escape the ropes and before the head butt Pascal threw several jabs

Pascal never looked done either he looked fine every time Dawson ended his barrages

Dawson was no where near KOing him but had he cornered him and rallied on him he would have gotten the ref to jump in Calzaghe Manfredo style

And for all the improvements you think Dawson will make for the rematch you dont think Pascal will not change up his fight for the rematch

:good Even if Bute were to beat Pascal and Dawson to beat Cloud and they fought in the final. You would still get to see Pascal vs Dawson afterward so it would be win win for everybody. Then the winner of that could rematch Bute again.

he wasn't out on his feet.

He took a clean shot and then backed up to the ropes but its not like his legs turned to jelly and its not like he wobbled all over. Dawson tried to follow up shortly after but mostly missed and even took a counter.

Pascal took that big shot really well. Credit to Dawson for landing a beautiful counter.

Out on his feet is Castillo against Corrales.

Just because you had him ranked as P4P fighter and he could not beat Pascal a good fighter at best why would the rematch be any different? he has no KO power and ring smarts are lacking. Marley wrote an article which discussed his out of the ring problems and his money problems and how he spends like he is PBF. Does not seem like he is focused 100% and maybe he thinks he is a bigger star than he really is. If anything with such a soft division if a p4p fighter he would have dominated and that was not the case and probably won't be the case in the rematch.

For some reason Dawson boxed way too cautious. I suppose he was pacing himself? I don't know. But he is clearly a superior boxer to Pascal. It's just mind boggling to me why he didn't let his hands go earlier. In a rematch unless pascal significantly improves I would have to say Dawson by K.O.

Dawson wasn't focused or in shape. He over trained. His jab had no snap.
Also he fought timid which was his own fault. He had the fight won but he fought so timid that he wouldn't go for the knock out. When you are behind in a fight and you have the other guy hurt, thats when you should throw all your best punches until you either tire yourself out and get knocked out, or you knock him out. You have absolutely nothing left to lose.

Dawson needed to lose. He was letting his world class status get to his head. Look at how he was talking before the fight, as if he was going to just go in there and destroy Pascal. He said he would win every round, then he came into the fight over trained, and with what seemed like a stupid gameplan. He did not use his best weapons which are his reach and his superior power.

He is a legit talent. He has all the technical and physical talent to be a great fighter. He just lost. It happens.
