Dawson and Williams were top 5 with Yahoo & ESPN, and top 8 with the RING and BBC.

People who don't include heavyweights in a p4p list because they are heavyweights don't understand what p4p is supposed to mean.

Also, one problem with trying to decide how good certain fighters in relation to others by listing them 1-10 is that it doesn't quantify in some way the level of their performance, and in the end, that's what it's all about. The difference between Pacquiao and Mayweather on one hand and other fighters on the other is considerably greater than the jump from 2 to 3 might suggest. Another problem is that if you list people 1-10, you imply that say No 3 is clearly and unequivocally better than No 9 - something that is clearly not the case. Boxing is not like tennis or chess where fighter accummulate points and you can have a fairly objective 1-10. It makes fairly little sense to rank fighters like that. It makes much more sense to group them in terms of the level of their performance. This is what I've been advocating.

what you've been advocating might make more sense to you but its not what people wanna know. People might wanna know who is the best fighter right now after Pac and Floyd? What's your answer to that?

    Right now, I'd say Wlad.

    Who's the best after that...?

I agree with you but......this is jusy a bit of fun. Don't take it so serious and post your list and not be so over the top and hostile. If you dont agree just ignore the thread.

Be intrested to hear your thoughts on the divisional rankings.

The only reason I'm so pissed off is because people get so hung up on lists that make little sense and have little point to them. Lists like these lead to the overrating of certain fighters and to the underrating of others. This has a corrosive effect. Remember God Mijares, for example? The whole thing is bad for boxing because it leads many of the best out there down the garden path. Just look at Dawson. Was that a performance worthy of the third best fighter in the world?

It's very hard to answer that question. I think the question can be given a reasonable answer that stands the harshest of tests, but I don't think I am competent and knowledgeable enough to give a precise 3-10. But I am competent and knowledgeable enough to recognise that most people who post these lists shouldn't.

If someone asked me who the best fighter in the world after Pac/PBF was, I'd say it doesn't really matter...the gulf between these two and the rest if fairly big for it not to matter. However, if they asked me whether Dawson or Pascal or Williams were the best of the rest, I'd be very comfortable in saying they weren't. Wlad certainly has a better case than these three.

Then, I'd chat to them about level of performance and try to convince them that in the end, that's what it is all about. A freak punch may lead to a good fighter beating a very good fighter, but that doesn't mean that that good fighter is a better fighter than the very good fighter.

Who's a better fighter, Marquez or Wlad?

these kind of questions are interesting to me, even if its not clear.

Believe me hes not the first guy rated among the best pfp to fall. I remember Bramble was 3 on everyones list before getting smoked by Rosario. Donald Curry was being hailed by some as the best pfp over even Hagler at one time before losing to Honeyghan. It happens and those are just the first that come to mind i know theres alot of others.

As for Heavys well the Klits dont have top notch comp to prove they are top elite pfp guys not cause they are hws. Bowe,Lewis,Holy,Tyson were ranked in everyones pfp list at one time, you wanna go back furter so was Holmes,Ali,Foreman,Fraizer etc etc. Hell Tyson was even number 1, so dont tell me people are prejudice against the heavys. Tyson might not have had the best comp but it was the way in which he went thru them. Unlike the Klit brothers.

I know where you are going with this.

I think your threads pitting fighters one against another have a purpose, but they also have their limitations. They're only as good as the person deciding whom to pit in the first place and, secondly, only as good as the people voting. I'll say it again, in the end, it's about level of performance given that of the opponent on the night. End of story for me.

Who would you say performs at a higher level these days, taking into account the level of performance of his opponent and the style match-up, Wlad or JMM? You tell me and there's your answer.

at the end of the day, its just a bit of fun. anyone that take it to serious is just being a dick.....the whole idea of Wlad vs Mayweather if they were the same size is dumb.

surley you can rank fighters from 1-10 based on there record of the last 2-3 years. theres no problem
