In an IBF super middleweight eliminator, Contender Season 3 winner Sakio Bika (28-4-2, 19 KOs) was disqualified in the first round of his bout with Jean Paul Mendy (29-0-1, 16 KOs). Bika knocked down Mendy early in the fight, but while Mendy was still on one knee Bika knocked him out cold with an uppercut.

I just read that, mendy was out cold and in a bad way after the late punch. Uppercut apparently.

Hope mendy is ok. Bika's career is one big mess.

Sorry for reviving this almost dead thread but would you kindly answer me this question:
Should Pascal have been disqualified for this?

Point deduction it should have been, as the boxer got up & fought on.

    Agree with Kegsy. But....

...it was certainly late, and he had to make a concerted effort to throw an improvised punch to hit.......pretty **** poor on the part pf Pascal.

    Talking to sakio tonight.

Re the dq...he said he couldnt tell whether mendys back knee was on the canvas as he couldnt see it, but thought his back leg was bent but the knee was not on the canvas. So he decided to let rip.

    On his future...

They are going to negotiate with the wbo champ about a title fight, whoever that is. I havent checked. Who is it fellas?

If its Stieglitz then off to Germany & probably a couple future options on top of that should he win.

Mate if it is Stieglitz then that is a very winnable fight for Sakio , The only time in my life i have ever fallen asleep watching a fight live on TV was when Stieglitz fought that polish fireman Wileschek . :-(
