Defensively Wlad isn't that great but it works for him, offensively he has excellent punch techique. As an athlete he's a whole other level, he is kind of like Usain Bolt - such tall men shouldn't be able to be that good, that well coordinated, that well conditioned and that fast

Okay, compare Kid Chocolate to Floyd Mayweather and tell me what the huge difference between them is.

I like his writing. His argumentations aren´t that good at times but his style is.

So in what ways has he been bettered? Jones, Pac and Mosley are perhaps even faster; Toney, Benitez, Duran and Hopkins perhaps better defensively, but as a whole package I haven't seen anyone who's really superior. His offense is probably unrivalled. In what ways has it been bettered, you mean?

never says he was, but I bet he would kill that nutritionist, I was joking of course.

I dont know, but it seems many argue that todays fighters are better though I cant see it.

One thing that bothers me is how easy it is to avoid top competition, in fact it seems that it can be a positive thing because the public prizes an undefeated record so much.

Tim Bradley calls out paquaio but do you think he will get it? instead we get pac vs marg. Bradley is a worthy challenger but it probably wont happen because their is not a lot of money in that fight- and that seems to be the most important thing these days. was it always like this?

on the flipside if pacquaio wanted to move down to 140 and clean house it would be far to risky. too much risk without the big money reward. How can a great fighter challenge himself often when he has to build interest in the great showdown?

even more when a boxer is a superstar it seems that the only fights he can be involved in are super fights.

I dont know maybe it was always like this.

Wlad's quite the athlete but Usain Bolt? That might be a little pushing it.

Guys his size and or near in boxing: Peak Riddick Bowe; Young Lennox Lewis; 80's Tony Tucker.

Now let's look at it overall in sports: THE NBA...lots of them.

Take Lebron for example. What he is able to do for a man his size is freakish.
People also forget what a young Shaq that played in Orlando looked like.

Compared to other athletes his size, and we can throw in some incredible athletes from the NFL, how Usain Bolt like is Wlad now?

I'm not trying to rip Wlad, he's good, but let's not get carried away with this.

Now as far as evolution of the athlete from a physical stand-point, this is true in many cases. Two examples: NFL, NBA...better today than way back when.

Mayweather and Hopkins are good, but i still dont believe even they come close to the likes of Armstrong, Kid chocolate, canzoneri skillwise. mayweather for example would not last more than a few rounds with Hurricane Hank...

Wlads handspeed is probably as good as some WWs and he hardly has slow feet. Either way he's managing it as a 240lb giant. I want to see his 800m intervals, if what is said by Steward is true they are 1 of the most impressive feats by a boxer I've heard, especially for such a huge man

I'm not saying Wlad is extradinary as Bolt, its the principle of ultra tall men never being as successful in the past in either sport, but both have managed to be athletically well balanced enough to pull it off

Your right Lennox certainly matches Wlad athletically, but pretty much the same era for me both being products of the last 20years. Wlad is fitter than Lennox who could be lazy and didnt like a high pace too much, Lennox is more explosive and the more natural better schooled fighter

Do you really think Wlad has excellent punch technique? Tommy Hearns had excellent punch technique to me. He was really able to maximize his height and reach advantage and gained a lot of leverage in each straight right. If Wlad had good technique i would think that he'd be knocking dudes silly within the first 4 rounds with his height and strength. Or is it because he's very careful not to get hit so he doesnt plant his feet until he knows the opponent is in trouble?

True. But contenders ducking champions, that is a new evoultionary step - in the wrong direction.
