I like this thread Boo, my 2 current favourite fighters are Mosley and Cotto but I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who they could watch to help improve their own styles. I'll need to have a think.

Paul Williams isn't my favorite, but I think he could benefit from studying Hearns. Learn to fight tall, learn to use his jab better, learn about leverage and sitting down harder on his punches, learn about better punch selection instead of his current "spray and pray" approach.

Yup. Some have mentioned this before.
Look to Hearns and train with Emanuel.

As long as we're just playing a game, I'll push the envelope a bit.

Take Paul Williams -- add a Hearns like jab, along with his ability to use every centimeter of his height and reach, and his ability to sit down on his punches. PDub keeps his work rate and stamina.

Take Kelly Pavlik -- add Arguello's ability to put combinations together plus Arguello's timing, accuracy, and technic. Kelly keeps his work rate, stamina, and chin.

Now --- put 'em in the ring together:admin

I will add Muhammad Ali too. Study the footwork and upper body balance.

I'm a big Adamek fan, but I don't think he has the physical tools to emmulate much of Ali's style. Note that I said Williams should study Hearns, but Pavlik should study Arguello. Kelly does not have the speed, reflexes, or athleticism to emmulate Hearns. PDub does not have the physical tools to gain much from studying Arguello. Same deal with Goral and Ali. Tomasz doesn't have the tools to use much of what he might learn.

Jerry Quarry is not an ATG, but that's a guy Tomasz could learn from. So is Holyfield.

Gamboa with Taylor's defense, footwork, and elusiveness. That would be awesome.

Haye obviously studied Riddick Bowe. The way he avoids the K-Bros is similar to the way Bowe avoided Lewis.

I didt mean Adamek to copy the Ali's style, its impossible. Ali was the one and onyl, no doubt it. But footwork and especially upper body balance are the elements that Adamek needs to improve and if you want to be a better fighter you should work hard at your weakest points, not hardest points :good It would be good to Adamek to watch Jack Dempsey too, throwing his left hook, as he was Adamek's size fighter. I think that power is an element that Adamek needs to improve too.

Watching Holyfield, Adamek may improve his strong points, because Holyfield and Adamek are to some point similar fighters, however competing on different levels.

Every single fighter today should watch Rocky Marciano. Heavyweight Champ at 180 lbs. The man was not a monster, just a monster in the ring and in training camp. He had more heart in his little pinkie, than all the heavyweights since the 1970's up to now. That was a fighter.
