Why ? Couture never said boxing sucks and that he wanted to win boxing Championships. Toney said that about MMA and hes being gave that chance.

100% agree with this, you can't truly find out who the better FIGHTER (not sport, I'm talking indviduals here) is in a boxing fight where only the hands are allowed, the octagon is the closest arena to true combat there is. No one dispues that boxer's are on another planet with their hands, and in a real fight that is a great asset to have. But if Randy went and fought James in a boxing ring it would only prove what we already know, that James is a much better boxer than Randy. You can't use the excuse of Randy be a more well rounded fighter, he's been training striking way longer than Toney's been training grappling but remember it was Toney that made the challenge to MMA, not vice versa, he knows what he's getting into.

All in all this fight won't prove which combat sport is the best, after all the UFC was created for that purpose and we still don't have a definitive answer! It'll only prove, as always, which fighter is better on the night.

No doubt! I know you're a huge boxing fan, wrestling and MMA. I am too....well, not so much Wrestling but I appreciate it.

With James talking I don't pay it much mind. That's just his personality and he says A LOT of off the wall ****. But at the end of the day by James being "JAMES"...he was able to get Dana to allow him a chance at proving his worth in a differnt sport. Toney talks **** about the pros in his own sport so by him talking mad **** about MMA fighters..... That was to be expected.

I don't think Randy needs to go in to a boxing match with James. But I was just merely pointing out James's mentality as a fighter! Had James been a MMA fighter best believe James would have made that move to boxing just to test himsself against the best in boxing based on pure fighting and compeitive spirit.

I compeltely see your point with MMA being an outlet where James still has his hands but it's NOT BOXING! The subtle nuaunces of the sport doesn't all James to be a "BOXER" the way he was in boxing. He's still got great strikes with his hands but a lot of how James "Set up" his offense was based on the rules where the only weapons are your hands. MMA is not like that and Randy has a foundation as a wrestler but by large he's a MMA fighter! Which means his fight game has evolved beyond jsut a werstler and even with his strikes they have been honed and developed in a way that has produced one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time.

I fully feel Randy SHOULD win but with James.....if he's focused and on point I won't be surprised if he does catch Randy and knocks him out. I just think that with Toney losing he'll show he's a capable MMA fighter by what he shows on the ground which I'm sure the fight will end up. I don't think Randy is gonna have a easy time with James on the ground like most think although I do belive he'll control the action. On the feet I don't think Randy has much of a chance to be honest. But its a fight.....anything can happen.

Conditioning is gonna be key for Toney so I hope what the reports say is true....that he's finally in FIGHTING shape for once. He'll need it in Randy's world.

Couture will brutalize Toney in under a minute in the upcoming MMA bout, so if Couture is a man of honour he will face Toney in a boxing ring afterwards to see if he can do any better in Toney's world...

...he won't though. Toney beautiful KO1 Randy.

Expect many private messages if the possible does indeed happen, and Toney puts Couture's lights out. :good

Not a ****ing chance, not a ****ing snowball's chance in the fiery depths of hell.

Couture, double-leg takedown within 20 seconds (before Toney has even landed one punch), full control, GnP, done, dusted and home for dinner within one solitary minute.

You know me, you know I am a fervent James Toney fan and always have been, but this is lunacy. As I've been saying for months, it's like Tito Ortiz facing B-Hop in a squared circle. Yes, Tito would technically have a swinger's chance, but in reality it's a chance too tiny to even register, and this is the exact same scenario.

I still have your text from the other day. It reads...

"Dawson to box rings round him"

    ...And later,

"I can't see how Dawson wouldn't outbox him on the backfoot"

    WRONGGGG! :good:happy

Have faith, it takes one second, one inch, and one punch for you to be wrong again...and I know how wrong you want to be.

As a side note, an MMA fighter competing in a Boxing ring is not the same thing as a Boxer translating to MMA. You don't need me to explain why.

Yeah, I got a prediction wrong, I guess I'll never make one again for fear of being wrong again.

Nah, I don't like fence-sitting or hedging my bets, if I have a strong conviction on a fight I'll call it, being wrong doesn't bother me in the slightest because no-one is infallible and for every one I get wrong I get another dead-on.

Dawson-Pascal was pretty much a 50-50 or maybe a 60-40 with the media, that's a million miles away from a Couture-Toney fight in MMA. Dawson had all the tools to outbox Pascal, but his performance was bizarre and disappointing. Do I think Pascal conclusively proved his superiority that night? No. Do I still think Dawson is a better fighter? Yes. Do I think Dawson will win a rematch? Yes. So I'm really not losing sleep over it or considering changing my ways.

Dawson and Pascal are fighters of similar age, similar experience, similar quality.

Randy Couture is an extremely experienced and decorated veteran in MMA, James Toney is an absolute rank novice.

I'm sticking to my prediction 100% - James will be humiliated early in the 1st round.

I was just illustrating a point, not trying to mock you.

    All true.

Speculation aside, Dawson/Pascal was a 70/30 fight among fans, a 60/40 fight among the media, and a 4/1 fight according to the bookies.

And as I say, if Toney does pull it out of the bag, which is entirely possible, I'll enjoy gloating. You'll enjoy it too.

Trust me, I'll be a HELL of a lot happier if I have to chow down on a MONSTER bowl of hot tasty crow on Aug 29th!! I just cannot see it happening that's all, I cannot envisage how it could possibly happen.

Just how you couldn't envisage Dawson being outboxed.

I'm not sitting on the fence ahead of this fight, I fully admit that Couture will most likely end this fight once he puts Toney on his back. He's one of the greatest and lasting Mixed Martial Artists of all time, and the very idea of him being stupid enough to try and stand toe-to-toe with a world class Boxer shouldn't even be entertained. However, James has been training for 9 months, and there's no doubt in my mind that during those 9 months he would have learned a thing or two about sprawling.

All it takes is one mistake on the part of Couture, who isn't getting any younger either, and he could conceivably be laid out cold on the mat. You referenced the possibility of the Natural perhaps challenging James Toney to a Boxing match in the future. Obviously that's a bad idea and you weren't being serious, but if that did come to fruition, Toney could make a 100 mistakes and would still win the fight comfortably. That's the difference.

Actually, it's nothing even remotely like that at all.

I didn't read anybodys comments but I think and MMA fight is the middle ground for a boxer and wrestler to meet. Why would a boxer enter into wrestling or a wrestler enter into a boxing match? MMA is the middle ground it lets both fighters use their sports tools against each other. Fair fot both fighters if you ask me.
