What Boxing Book are u reading at the moment???

I just finished Four Kings, Night Train and War Baby on holiday and currently reading Dark Trade.

As research for the boxing venues thread. Decent read so far.

 

none but ive heard dark trade bigged up all the time, so just bought it. last boxing book i read was hands of stone, at xmas. i cant really read books unless im on holiday/away from home

 

I really enjoyed Atlas' book. That was a pretty decent read. Need to get round to buying Buncey's at some point.

 

Nothing at the moment but Sugar Ray Leonard's autobiography is out early next year.

I'm reading Ali v Liston by Bob Mee. I've read 'Hit Man' about Tommy Hearns. The problem with Brian Hughes' books is that they are entirely about boxing - you very rarely pick up any anecdotes or flavour of the men outside the ropes.

In saying that, the oneupmanship in the build up of Hagler Hearns is very funny.

Haha there was a lot of traveling so just plowed through them. Four Kings was excellent- recommend it to any one who hasn't read it.

Frankie isn't it quite hard as a fighter reading something like Watson's story or does it just keep you on your toes? Would of thought it'd put me off fighting.

 

im half way through teddy atlas's book. good read so far but the problem i got is finding the consistency to finish books without leaving a massive gap. normally spend a few nights getting stuck into them then put it down and forget about them

 

Just finished Facing Tyson. Bit disappointing really. It's not about facing Tyson at all, it's just a collection of heavyweight hardluck shouldn't have taken all that dope stories. Very little about what the various fighters felt like going in with him and what he was like to fight. Could have been so much better
