Interested to hear everyone's feedback on this upcoming "fight". James makes a lot of noise, but one thing he said in this "interview" stuck with me. Toney said that he only needed 3" to knock Couture out. So if Couture comes in and tries to wrestle, will James, one of the greatest counter punchers in history, get that opening?

    What do you think?

Randy by actually training for this fight instead of relying on the fact that he can punch really hard with 4 oz gloves.

thoughts are if it goes to the ground its over, should be a short quick knock out for James much the way Mercer pulled his Kayo off
I would love to see Toney vs Mercer in an MMA match with 4 ounce gloves...

Toneys standup is getting overrated.... Im not so sure that its THAT huge of an advantage for Toney. People act like hes going to be some murderous puncher in there. The man is fat, old, and shot..... im sorry to say this, but his punching doesnt look any different from many mma guys at this point, its sloppy and slow.

Toney doesnt have the style, age, or dimensions to win this fight (IMO)

This fight is a joke.... and while i hope Toney can shock the mma world and deliver on all his talk, as usual, all his talk wont mean jack when hes getting embarrassed, and i mean embarrassed, against Randy.

Im sure the cocksucking ufc announcers will milk this for all its worth too.... "RANDY JUST TOYED WITH ONE OF THE GREATEST BOXERS OF ALL TIME!!!!!"

    :patsch :patsch

James Toney wouldn't have even beaten fat, old Tim Sylvia much less Randy Couture. A boxer fighting in MMA only has a puncher's chance. Toney hasn't actually knocked a guy out for real since he was a super middleweight.

Plus, if you were to pick a style of fighter who would be ill-suited for MMA, Toney would be the exact style. Doesn't move his feet much, counterpuncher, relies on upper body movement. Unless he's really learned how to throw a knee, he'll be completely open for a takedown.

He can punch hard enough. You are also forgetting that he's one of the great counter-punchers. If he can find an angle and catch Couture with a hard shot on the button that he doesn't see, what do you think will happen?

How likely that is to actually happen I don't know. I know absolutely **** all about UFC, I would assume though that Toney gets taken done and it stays there for pretty much the whole fight and he doesn't get the opportunity to fight standing up.

I hope he does it though. That would be absolutely amazing. I will watch this the next day on mute though if I check the result and he's lost, because I could not stand the commentators going on about a UFC v Boxing conflict and how UFC has 'won'.

I personally don't think this fight should even have been sanctioned. Certainly Couture couldn't get licensed to box, so why can Toney get licensed to fight an elite MMA fighter with no background in the sport. If Toney were a true heavyweight and 10 years younger, I'd give him a punchers chance, but he's a blown up middleweight who was never a one punch KO artist to begin with..so now all of a sudden he's going to become one just cause he's got 4oz gloves...hard for me to believe.

At least Mercer truely was a heavyweight, with a solid punch and chin. But both are in their mid-late 40's and don't really belong in the ring with MMA fighters, dispite Mercer's 10 second KO of Tim Sylvia

Toney does not look to be in good shape. Hit the tire three times and walk away. Just looks funny, but I'm sure that's his typical training.

there will be no counter punching guys when couture throws a punch he will immediately tie james up there will be no pull back from couture for james to throw a counter punch if he even throws one its just to get toney to move his head back so he can clamp on.
