"I've read everything he's said about me and he reckons I'm a gobby fighter, Anyone who knows me knows I'm the total opposite of that. I don't go in for criticising my opponents and where he gets all this, I don't know. I don't claim to be better than Joe Calzaghe. I'm Nathan Cleverly, my own fighter, out to create my own legacy"

"He's angered me by making these claims and, trust me, he's added fuel to my fire. I will destroy Karo Murat on September 18.I'm going to punish him for making these claims. I wish we were in the ring now."

    95-15

    What he said

"I have already seen a couple of his fights. I try to internalize his movements and style. He is tall and he is strong, and he has good movements"

"I have no respect for Cleverly for putting himself on the same level as Joe Calzaghe, who was a great champion - when he has done nothing."

    The Fight

Despite going the traditional route and picking up Commonwealth, British and European titles, Welshman Nathan Cleverly has yet to be truly tested as he moves into his toughest fight yet agaisnt Germanys Karo Murat.

Since moving away from Enzo Calzaghe's camp and moving up to Light Heavyweight, Cleverly has been on a role. He beat the durable and respected Tony Oakey for the Commonwealth title, and his since racked up 6 stoppage wins in quick succesion. His impresive performances have earned him comparisons to former sparring partner and Welsh legend Joe Calzaghe, beating Murat and picking up the WBO Light Heavyweight title would see Cleverly step into Calzaghe's shoes.

Murat, a former European champion at Super Middleweight, putting together 3 defences before moving up to Light Heavyweight. Trained by legendary coach Uli Wegner he is seen as a typical European fighter that has all the basics down to a tea. He is by far the best opponent Cleverly has faced, although Murats competition had not been to great outside of former World Champion Gabriel Campillo, which was a highly disputed win.

Cleverly's European title is not on the line, but a shot at WBO Light Heavyweight champion Jurgen Braehmer.

Cleverly, even at this stage in his career.

True he hasnt been tested, but 6 stoppages in a row speaks for itself.

Clev mid to late stoppage for me, lets say round 8.

Cleverly decision probably. Murat just walks around and has no speed.

Murat does not have the tools to bother Cleverley imo, Cleverley easy points/late stoppage.

Cleverly wins a fairly clear decision in this one I think, something along the lines of 116-112.

Watching Murat I think Cleverly will win just out of being the busy man. It will take someone with a bit more speed to trouble Cleverly.

Cleverly pretty comfortable UD. But he's got to stop squaring up and coming on the inside, not a good look with his T-rex arms and long body which is a big target area.

Cleverly by stoppage. I expect/hope Murat will be like a fish out of water fighting outside mainland europe for the 1st time.
