In fairness to Juarez, he did run a still legitimate Barerra close in one of his title shots, and came very close to beating John both titmes. He's certainly not a bad operator, and I'm kind of happy that he's received some recognition.

There are better choices,of course but there are worse choices for this, too.

 

But Martin Vargas definitely deserves a mention here, as well.

 

He's already had a mention but I've got to mention him again. My dad, Alan Rudkin had to fight 3 great champs in Fighting Harada, Lionel Rose and Ruben Olivares all away from home and all in their prime.

I agree about Pimental but I think Zarate did beat quality fighters even if he did beat quite a few fighters with losing records.

 

Al, I think your Dad's wins over the excellent Johnny Clark are very underrated. An excllent addition to this list.
