are you on about John l sullivan the first heavyweight champion? from ehat i have heard he was a barroom brawler, have you got any video vidence that he had decebt skills and good punch?

 

I think at least he could take a punch, taken that he fought with bare knuckles and the fights at that time were more than 20 rounds sometimes

but he fough with bare knuckle so it will reate an illusion that he hits harder but he probably punched no harder.

plus he wasnt dedicated like athletes today. and was a beer guzzling barroom brawler who doesnt possess the stamina of todays athletes.:yep

keep in mind punch output to. footage we DO have from similar eras show punch....wait 5 seconds....clinch....stare....punch. when you only throw 20 punches in a 3 minute period 20 rounds isn't that impressive
