Kevin Johnson, Albert Sosnowski, and now Shannon Briggs... Vitali is a total joke!

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by charlie brown, Aug 18, 2010.

  1. He should be ashamed that he's defending his title against these bums.

Vitali has lost to the best two guys he ever faced and he's never beaten a good heavyweight in his career. He quit like a dog against Byrd and got his ass kicked by an old, fat Lewis. If Vitali somehow makes it into the Boxing Hall of Fame, it will be a true testament to how much the heavyweight division has fallen.

It's not Vitali's fault that the majority of the heavyweight division is completely ****.

WAY over the top - but Vitali's recent challengers have, overall, been pretty mediocre. This said, who is out there really that he could be fighting? If he took on guys that his brother has beaten, he would be accused of fighting Wlad's leftovers. It's not his fault Haye and Valuev essentially ducked him.

If nobody wants to fight him what can he do? Start a thread ridiculing the rest of the division for not stepping up tbh

In the time it has taken for Haye to fight John Ruiz Vitali has beaten Johnson, Sosnowski and will add Briggs to that list

    This.

+ It's not Vitali didn't go Russia personally to challenge Valuev having had Haye duck him is it?

    Oh wait........

I'm not sure how you could diss Vitali for fighting KJ at the time....KJ was undefeated and coming off some big wins.

Sosnowski.....well he had a title and was Top 25 no question.

With Briggs the criticism has some merit but then again, Briggs is a former champ and most importantly he actually wants the fight.

I hope Valuev, Haye, or Austin/Solis will be Vitali's next opponent.

    vitalis recent opponents.

well he beat peter who was the champ, no real issue there.

next it was gomez wasnt it? i dont see why that fight had to happen, unless he was the mandatory in which case fair enough.

johnson was undefeated and quite a highly rated prospect so again no qualms.

    arreola, see above.

sosnowski lost every round to zuri lawrence, but he was the euro champ and looked good vs danny williams so it werent too bad.

briggs, **** fight but history will see that vitali was older and briggs was on good form.

    all in all

the record of opposition since he came back is(inc. briggs)

219-9-3 and includes 3 former champions(gomez was a cw champ) a european champ, plus 2 undefeated prospects. so all in all it aint too bad. it aint world class, but it aint ****. it is a shame that he is wasting the tail end of his career on fights that individually at the time dont mean much, but throw them in together and it aint too shabby.

lol there we go then, that was the name i had the biggest issue with.

perhaps with his voluntaries he could have taken on more "marquee" names but like i said, all in all it aint too bad.

Yeah Vitali should be ashamed of having the highest KO% in heavyweight history, having never been knocked down, never behind on any score cards even during the two losses (due to injury as you well know)
I keep asking posters like you who do you want to see Vitali fight that hasn't already been tried?

I think there's something more to Vitali you don't like other than his boxing :hi:

Maybe the thread starter would suggest Vitali go to Haye and Valeuv's homes and start pounding on them in their own back yard.........willing or not.

as i mentioned i dont have many qualms with his fights up until this briggs one, but i do think history will make this fight seem better than it is atm.

in terms of hw's id have preferred to see over those he has fought.

chambers, thompson, povetkin, adamek, solis, haye.

now im sure someone will try to tell me that every one of these have ducked vitali, i dont buy that, but like i said his resume since coming back is ok, i think those wins would be better, but it is about fitting them in, and deciding which fighters you would drop for those names.
